21.01.2022 SNAPPER THAT WAS ALIVE IN WWII CAUGHT OFF BROOME An 81-year-old midnight snapper caught off WA’s north coast has taken the title of the oldest tropical reef fish in the world. The snapper, alive during World War II, was found 300km west of Broome at the Rowley Shoals.... The discovery was part of a study on the longevity of tropical fish.

19.01.2022 Thousands of WA families have reunited for the first time since the coronavirus pandemic struck, as the island within an island finally reopens to interstate travellers after 222 days of turning them away. Scores of cars were on Friday night banked up at the land borders into WA with some travellers planning to begin the final stage of the long drive home as soon as the clock hit midnight and the State officially transitioned to a controlled border.

16.01.2022 PAY SQUEAL The former boss of WA’s peak pork body recently convicted of stealing from the organisation has launched legal action claiming to be owed more than $100,000. Russell Cox has sued the WA Pork Producers Association in the District Court, claiming to be owed $112,488.75 for allegedly unpaid wages for work performed.

But a new report from Oxford Economics offers an upbeat assessment, noting the affected products represent only a minor share of Australia’s agricultural exports and any further deterioration in the Beijing-Canberra relationship would have only a small impact on the overall export outlook.
