25.01.2022 I would like to introduce a new addition to my practice - this is Maggie who is a Spoodle. A little young to be a counselling dog yet, but attending Puppy School and very responsive! Maggie is keeping me very busy with toilet training and playing games! She is a very friendly little dog, loves people and children. As you can see, she is adorable!

25.01.2022 I am open for business here in Ballarat. I also do phone Counselling for those not in the vicinity. Since being here that has been more regular as people want the BeSetFreeFast technique specifically and they don't want to travel. I do so love to see the changes people are able to make with this technique coupled with the counselling! But also that by the last session they are using the technique successfully themselves! You can read about this particular technique on my web page www.courageouslifechanges.com if interested.

25.01.2022 Well, contrary to my last post, I have discovered how to access messages! No one I have ever asked has been able to work it out, so it wasn't just me. But an extra muddle around last night and I found the messages and was able to answer! So please message knowing I will answer now!

25.01.2022 Zoe needs to be in on the page -hey! Very much part of the practice, will do the 'Downface Yoga Dog Pose' generally on the hour to let me know time's up in a subtle way!

24.01.2022 Autumn/Winter Newsletter It is with great sadness that I inform you of the passing of my dear companion Zoe. Those who are familiar with this practice will know her at my counselling dog, who was always here to greet a client and be as much or as little as anyone required. Zoe had been my faithful companion for 13 years and knew how to worm her way into anyone's heart, even those not so keen on dogs would eventually admit to being very fond of her. Zoe followed me everywhere...Continue reading

24.01.2022 Someone close to me was grappling with a decision recently. As a friend I could be a sounding board but one cannot and does not counsel those who are close. It took this person several sleepless nights and several conversations to come to their decision. But how tempted was I to offer a hypnosis session, I already had the metaphors forming in my mind to enable the person to come to their own answers. A hypnotic trance is such a gentle way to become unstuck when grappling with a problem!

24.01.2022 Well here I am again, trying to get this out for people to be able to see in case anyone is looking for a counsellor. I hope it works this time! My dear friend Alice has recreated the page in another spot for me. So, I will write a little something on the weekend and hopefully receive some comments. It is late now and busy till then. So, I will look at getting this more fully operational then. All for now...

20.01.2022 Just a reminder here to all, that life is forever changing! One of the most common things clients say to me is "I just want to be happy!". No one's life is happy all the time. Each one of us has good times and bad times. I guess the thing to remember is that when times are tough, they just won't be forever! When times are good, they will be followed by bad times which will eventually be followed by good times and so life goes on. Sometimes one needs some counselling to get ...to the good times as can feel like they are going around and around in circles. Some of us are lucky enough to have good friends who help us get there and at times this is enough, but at other times it is good to speak with someone who is totally impartial. It is easier for most of us to complain, rather than seeing the good in situations. I once had a chap who was ready to leave his wife of many years for another. When I asked him to tell me about what was good about his wife as they had been married for so many years, he started to tell me all these wonderful things and then said " oh my goodness, she is my best friend! Oh, I am an idiot!" And so started the change for him in him repairing his marriage. I believe they have since celebrated their 40th Anniversary! This example can be pointed to any part of our lives as in when things don't seem the best in a situation, if we stop and look at what is good about the situation, we often find the good things far outweigh the bad as no job or relationship, for example, is perfect. If on the other hand we discover the bad outweighs the good, then it is generally time to move on and and learn from the experience. It is not always what is in the experience either that one has to examine as outside influences and what one wants from those can also come into play. Life and situations change, we grow and often our needs change, so we outgrow a situation that suited us several years ago. Sometimes to make a change is huge, but generally I find, if it is meant to be, then things start falling into place and it isn't as difficult to make the change as you initially imagined. But before making any changes, it is good to look at the good and the bad to compare before making changes. What is right will feel good in your heart and the 'goods' will outweigh to help you make the best decision for yourself. However for everyday life when things don't feel great, see if you can find the things that are good and build on those, there always treasures to be found I believe! See more

15.01.2022 I have been a bit lacking in attention here, I apologise! I have taken a part time job as a Dementia Consultant since moving back to Ballarat and it is a job I certainly love, but I am still open for business if people feel the need to have a session or two. I am also open to phone counselling for those at a distance. I am usually inspired to write pieces, but guess the new job has rather been taking my attention. But I will get back to it. I have had a lot of trouble with ...losing my Web Page and email since October. Another organisation took over where I paid for the hosting and lost it! A long story with all the trying to get it back and eventually got recommended a man who is overseas who is working on getting it all back up. But he only has an old version, so currently it looks like I am in Melbourne. Still waiting and hoping the email will be working again. It will be fixed up properly soon. My web page is on a Drupal system, so needs a person trained in that. So far this man has been terrific. I am a bit of a clutz when it comes to such things! It is February already and it seems the years fly faster the older we get! My eldest grandchild has just started school, it seems no time since he was born! I hope things are going well for you, but please contact me here if you feel you would like an appointment or want to make an enquiry. All for now. Jenni

11.01.2022 A friend posted this the other day on FB and I felt it so pertinent to our ever changing lives. Life is full of many and varied experiences, some not so good. I personally find that I learn through all experiences and often those that don't seem so good at the time do feed our growth, bringing us wisdom, enabling us to make better choices and decisions in the future. Learning to sit with sadness can bring about revelations. One can feel like that naked tree at times, but as w...ith the seasons, nothing is ever static, even though it might feel so at the time, things always change and eventually like spring, we flourish and welcome the new! There is a good book out called 'The Uses of Sadness' by Karen Masman an Australian author. Masman sees sadness as perhaps an indication we need to reassess our goals in some area of our lives or maybe letting us know it is time for some 'down time'. I welcome your thoughts... 10.01.2022 Sometimes you have to go away to appreciate a place! Some people would have known my business as Skewes Therapy Consultancy in the past. When I moved to Brunswick Heads in NSW about 7 years ago I changed it to the current name. At the time I felt I needed to leave Ballarat, coming out of a marriage split, I really felt the need to get right away to rediscover myself and I had always wanted to live by the sea. When my girls settled down into family life and the grandchildren s...tarted to appear, I discovered myself really missing them. I still felt the need for sea air so chose a place as close as possible to where I had gained employment that had sea air, which was Pt Cook. However, I was forever travelling up to Ballarat and I discovered too that I was enjoying lots of things about Ballarat that wasn't available where I was living. When dear little Zoe died, I decided it was time to come back closer to my family and friends and I am so happy I did! Ballarat is truly a beautiful place to live, I love the gardens, big trees, community spirit, the Lake, the variety of shops, the fact that no where is very far to get to, the restaurants and of course my family, friends and the great part time job I was blessed to gain with Lifeline Ballarat. This job is very flexible which allows for my practice to flourish! The job also feeds my passion of assisting people to get the best out of life. So all is just perfect! See more

10.01.2022 Welcome to my Face Book Page! This is my first ever post! I recently attended a workshop on Addictive Behaviors, a comment I felt was interesting regarding Ice was that the reaction on the body was like a continuous adrenaline rush so a person is in that 'fight or flight', looking for danger mode, so looking for a fight and easily upset, hence the aggression we hear of. I am personally re-looking at the possibility of running workshops for therapists wishing to learn a versio...n of the BE SET FREE FAST technique. You can read about this technique on my web page. I will look at offering this down the track. I love teaching my clients how to use this version of the BSFF Technique for themselves as this empowers them to keep any future anxieties dampened. I have had clients use it for things as varied as performance anxiety to curing phobias!

08.01.2022 Melanie my daughter and I looked at this page this evening. Melanie seems to think it goes out to the general public. I am not so sure. Anyway, I will have to investigate further. For anyone who does 't know me, wishing to know more about my counselling service, please go to www.courageouslifechanges.com where you can read info on my styles of counselling and hypnosis as well as the current Newsletter. Past Newsletters are also all there for the reading if you want to check them out. You can subscribe to these, they don't come out as often as I would like, so you won't be swamped by them. Currently I only get about four a year out, but I do hope to be more active. All for now...

02.01.2022 Thanks to all those who have supported my page and business in getting it out there, I really appreciate your kindness!
