25.01.2022 Our Garru children enjoyed our first excursion for 2020. We went to the Botanic Gardens to count native birds for the National Backyard Bird Count. The children have been busy learning the names and identifying Australia’s native birds. We’ve also been drawing our interpretations of native birds. These are on display in the hallway at Courallie With the help of our careful watching and toilet roll binoculars we were able to see:- Magpies (Garru), Galahs, King Parrots, Rosellas, Currawongs, Wrens and Ducks Someone did think they saw a lyrebird, but as we have learned from our knowledgeable friend David Attenborough - a lyrebird can make the sound of anything, so we a not sure about a lyrebird being at the botanic gardens. But I guess you never know

23.01.2022 Our older Wombat children enjoyed their first week of transitions to the Garru Room this week. Getting to know their teachers, peers and new rooms routine. Participating along side their older and more experienced peers to help them be ready for next years challenges. Here are some snap shots of our Friday friends, jumping into this new challenge, literally! Jimmy also had a turn to be the greeter today, doing a very Covid safe elbow touch to greet each of his peers great work Jim!

17.01.2022 We had very excited little friends today when we discovered a special delivery had arrived from Santa at the North Pole. Inside we discovered that Santa had lent us an Elf for the next few weeks. Our Elf was in a glass jar because he has been in quarantine for the past 14 days. Thankyou Santa for being Covid safe We all put forward some fantastic names for our new elfin friend, including little Bob Banana Stew and Apple.....but Mya’s choice was drawn out, and his name is Pocket the Elf. Have your clever eyes peeled in the mornings to find Pocket....I wonder where he will be

01.01.2022 Over several weeks the children in the Wombat Room worked together to build a volcano model using papier-mâché and paint. After completing the model we then used the bicarbonate soda and coloured vinegar to create an eruption demonstrating what happens when the lava comes in contact with the environment around the volcano. This was a special project for Fergus as he spent a lot of time during our world project making countries, mountains and volcanos out of play dough and sand.

01.01.2022 Happy Grandparents Day to all those incredible people who make our Courallie families enriched and truly grateful
