23.01.2022 Every year we get the same parents with their new little baby ducklings. Unfortunately they choose our driveway as a crossing but luckily for them they’re the talk of the town and everyone knows they’re there. Just how adorable are they?!

23.01.2022 Is your horse fussy with their tongue? Do they stick it out or suck it back trying to get their tongue over the bit? Do they have a large tongue and not much room in their mouth for the tongue? Are they snatching the reins or not travelling forward into the contact? Barney was being ridden in a WTP extended plate bit at home as he was prone to getting his tongue over the bit but needed an option that is competition legal which is why we tried the Bomber Loose Ring Happy Tongu...e. Previously he would get quite offended if he came above the bit, could easily lock his jaw and often became heavy in the contact. Upon changing to the Bomber Loose Ring Happy Tongue he was more forward into the contact and easier to maintain a more consistent, softer contact. Most importantly, he has room to comfortably place his tongue and has not stuck it out since. 19.01.2022 Need that little extra to help sit your horse on their hocks in the show jumping? Struggling with the turning aid? Is your horse leaning on the bit or shaking their head in front of the fence? Yogi was a prime candidate for the Neue Schule Tranz Angled Lozenge Elevator in the show jumping ring. He is a typical quarter horse and in his snaffle he tended to get low in front. He’d also evade the contact by shaking his head in front of a fence when a half halt aid was applied and... occasionally would take the opportunity to run out. This bit was added with the use of equalisers/roundings and has provided him with a lot more lift and control in front of fences. Very quickly after starting to use the Neue Schule Tranz Angled Lozenge Elevator the combination started to gain some real traction in the show jump arena and don’t they look the goods in this photo from a few weeks ago? 18.01.2022 It’s that time of year again!!! Every year at Cove Park we put up a Christmas tree and ask each of our agistees to decorate a bauble with their horses names. We run a Kris Kringle and celebrate the year that’s been. With such a disjointed year, I think Christmas and Kris Kringle are going to be very well received this year. 18.01.2022 Is your horse fussy in the mouth by chewing on the bit or are they prone to getting their tongue over the bit? Does your horse lift their head and run through the bridle to avoid the contact? Are they opening their mouth, tossing their head or inconsistent in the contact? Is the riders hands unsteady and still establishing an independent hand and seat? Then the Neue Schule Turtle Top Eggbutt may be the answer to all your prayers. Leo was the perfect horse for the Neue Schule ...Turtle Top Eggbutt. While he didn’t show all the above signs that were listed he is a big OTT with a smaller rider that needed something nice and steady in the contact whilst also encouraging him to be lighter in the hand. He was quite sensitive to tongue pressure and the locking link of the Turtle Top really aided in relieving this pressure. Leo was very prone to leaning on the bit and running through the bridle. Sometimes he would lean down and other times raise the head to evade the contact. This bit provided the consistency he needed to really kickstart his career. The Eggbutt provides more stability than a loose ring which he really benefited from at his stage of education. 16.01.2022 How gorgeous is little Spirit? As therapists we learn to cherish and accept even the smallest releases. This little pony has been storing a fair amount of issues for a little while and certainly made it known at the beginning of his treatment. Getting this simple lick and chew moment showed a sign that we had released some tension and we had the beginnings of a happier pony. I look forward to treating Spirit in the future

Both these horses have been with us a few times now and it’s always a pleasure having them around. Ava may secretly (or not so secretly) be stolen by staff member Jazy during her stays at Cove Park

12.01.2022 Is your horse getting strong coming into the fences? Are the poking their nose or get flat in front of a fence? Do you need that little bit more control than a snaffle? Issy was the perfect fit for the Stubben Golden Wings 3 Ring Gag. Issy was already competing successfully around 1.05m courses however could occasionally become flat in front of the fence and just a little strong. The Stubben Golden Wings 3 Ring Gag provided that little more control required for the bigger fen...ces. While she did not require the use of the bottom ring, roundings were a perfect accessory to add to equalise the pressure used. This way there is still a further step that can be taken by removing the roundings and dropping the rein to the lower ring if Issy were to become stronger as more questions are asked of her. 11.01.2022 Bam Bam waiting patiently for Matt Gobel Horse Transport in our stables. This beautiful filly is headed for the Hunter Valley to become a broodmare. We love Matt and his staff for all their hard work to get the horses to and from their destinations safe and sound. Thank you Matt

11.01.2022 Is your horse super sensitive? Does your horse have sensitive bars or a large tongue? Do you prefer to ride bitless but need a bit for competition use? Is your horse inconsistent in the contact? Sid was the perfect example of a horse needing the Neue Schule Turtle Tactio Snaffle. He was super sensitive in his previous French Link. He was easily offended if pressure was applied at the wrong time and the Turtle Tactio took the pressure off his bars and tongue that he seemed to... dislike. Sid also has a large tongue that is quite often found on heavier breed horses (Clydies, QH, etc) meaning limited room for some bit types. Immediately upon changing to the Turtle Tactio his owner noticed the contact changed. 05.01.2022 And here’s the real reason we removed all our old show jumps earlier today!!! Horizon Show Jumps have done it again with the most incredible show jumps to complete our arena. Every jump on here (minus 3 old pairs of wings) was purchased from Megan and Liam from Horizon and we could not be happier. What an incredibly beautiful and bright looking arena we have now

Is your horse inclined to get their tongue over the bit or stick it out to the side? I’m starting the new year with my gorgeous mum and her new horse purchased not long ago. They’re soon ready to hit the dressage arena at level 4 in their new Neue Schule Turtle Tactio Eggbutt. Rusty was inclined to suck behind the contact and not stretch out over th...e back into a correct frame. He was quite fussy in the mouth and would always have his mouth open in a basic double jointed snaffle. He is not a strong horse but they are a green combination so the Neue Schule Turtle Tactio Eggbutt was a good choice for him with the Eggbutt providing more stability in the mouth. 01.01.2022 One of the most common questions we get asked is why a nice new shiny bit (like the blue Bombers bits) is starting to get rusty after only a couple of rides. The answer is quite simple; these bits are made of sweet iron and sweet iron will oxidise when in contact with salvia/moisture. This in turn will encourage salivation, be warm in their mouth and aid bit acceptance. So don’t panic, this is 100% normal. Attached is a photo of a brand new bit next to one that has been light...ly used. Oxidation starts straight away and eventually the bit will turn brown completely.
