They aim to equip people with the skills they need to look after their own mental health and wellbeing, and to create confidence in their ability to support those around them. Through their support services, programs, research, advocacy ...and communication activities, theyre breaking down the stigma, prejudice and discrimination that act as barriers to people reaching out for support. https://www.beyondblue.org.au
24.01.2022 Hello all, Having decided to do Dry July I thought it might be worthwhile making this a community initiative to see if anyone else wanted to join me in my quest for 31 days of alcohol free fun. My motivation came from finding out that the recommendation from the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) guidelines now say people should drink "no more than 10 standard drinks per week".... I wasnt exactly sure what this meant so I did some sums and came up with some concerning conclusions. 10 standard drinks is the equivalent of: 7.6 cans of Export (lets round that up to 8 shall we) 8.6 bottles of Asahi (9 bottles sounds marginally better) 7 glasses of wine or champagne (150ml glasses) So basically if any of us are drinking more than this according to the NHMRC guidelines we are putting our health at risk. What really hit home was when I realised that on a number of occasions during the COVID era I have downed more than my weekly alcohol allowance in one session. Goes without saying I am certainly not going to coerce anyone in joining me but here are a few reasons why you should consider giving Dry July a crack in 2020: 1. I understand it is exciting the AFL is back on and watching the footy with a beer is an Aussie tradition however it is fair to say both WA teams are currently crap so why bother watching. 2. For the first time ever Dry July in its infinite wisdom allows you to nominate a specific time period for which you will go dry i.e. you dont have to do the whole month. 3. As a community we have showed a huge amount of unity during the COVID era so why stop now. https://www.dryjuly.com/t/covid-connecting-no-beer-pressure

23.01.2022 Hello All, with WA’s impending transition to a controlled interstate border on November the 14th the CCSG committee felt it would be a good time to provide an update. The below graphic gives a good outline of what the changes will look like. In summary:... - Even though travellers from the very low risk ACT, QLD, NT, TAS and SA don’t have to self-quarantine they do have to submit to taking a COVID-19 test. - Travellers from the low risk states of NSW and VIC will have to self-quarantine for 14 days and will have a mandatory COVID-19 test on Day 11 of their self-quarantine. To give you all some context around the state of the nation from a COVID-19 perspective the CCSG have put together the below stats: *active cases in NT, SA, QLD and WA are related to return travellers Essentially this means in the past two weeks in the whole of Australia there have only been 5 coronavirus cases that have not be traced to a known source. These cases occurred in Victoria and NSW and I imagine this is the reason travellers from these states still have to self-quarantine. The CCSG believes this is a cautious approach by the WA Government that is still looking out for the best interests of West Australians health and well being.

22.01.2022 Good Morning Northampton CCSG ... please find a little video I recorded on grief and loss for my Calm Farmer group, which I thought would be relevant for your group too. We are all touched by grief at some time in our lives, as are our loved ones. Often it is very difficult to know how to support the people we care about through times of loss. Here I give you a few tips on what to do. I hope they are helpful. May your losses be few, and your grief comforted by the many around you who care. And as always - please dont hesitate to get in contact with me if you need further assistance. Chantal

Being a part of this program and seeing all the generosity is truly a blessing.

01.01.2022 The CCSG would like to take this opportunity to thank the community of Northampton for all of the support and feedback we have received in response to our COVID-19 community programs. We have had several enquiries about our programs and, in particular, our care package program. Thanks to the combination of very generous support from a local community group, as well as from Midwest Charity Begins at Home, the CCSG have been able to design and deliver a robust program where ba...sic food and household items are regularly delivered to our communitys most in-need. This program is guided by a comprehensive management plan, whereby the programs recipients must meet a number of specific criteria to be eligible. Our recent care package delivery saw 14 bags of goods delivered to 16 vulnerable persons, with the average age of most of those recipients being around 85 years, and some who were into their 90s. Our selection criteria for that program has been designed to specifically assist the elderly, those with disabilities, special needs and who are immunocompromised. Additional considerations are geographical isolation, inability to safely access local shopping facilities and those individuals who may be experiencing hardship, illness, and who do not have an immediate carer. Delivering those care packages over the past few days has been a humbling experience for our volunteers, and the joy and genuine appreciation from those people has only affirmed our need to continue to pursue these important community programs. If you know of a person whom you think may meet our criteria and needs some assistance, please feel free to make contact with us to see how we can help. Thanks again to you all for your wonderful support. We truly do live in an amazing community.
