24.01.2022 Red, yellow or green? Check if you are in a fruit fly affected area and what you need to know about the fruit and veg that fruit fly like. https://www.pir.sa.go...v.au/fruitfly Red areas are outbreak areas. The fruit and veg that fruit fly like can't move from your property. Keep fruit in the fridge rather than in a fruit bowl. Fruit waste has to go in your green bin not composted. Yellow areas are suspension areas. You can move fruit and veg that fruit fly like within the yellow area. You can’t take this type of fruit and veg into the green area. (If you take it into a red area, it can’t come out again). Green areas are not impacted by fruit fly and no restrictions apply within this area. #FruitFlySA #Adelaide #Riverland #strawberries

20.01.2022 The preschool has some new artwork - thanks to an amazing artist and parent whose son attends preschool this year. We wanted to link in with the element of wate...r (early thoughts are that the word Cowandilla means good water or plenty of water Kaurna word of Kauwi means water). A waterfall has been painted reflecting the gorgeous Australian colours we have in our landscape. We also wanted to link in with the flora and fauna of our local space so a large gumtree has been painted on the other side with some local fauna included in the design as well. Am amazing addition to the preschool learning environment. Artist is known as mr.senman on Instagram - look him up and support local!!! See more

09.01.2022 All playgrounds and outdoor gyms within West Torrens have now been re-opened after each park was cleaned and (most importantly) safety checked after being close...d for a number of months. Now that parks are open, we remind everyone to maintain social distancing and good hygiene practices to ensure everyone stays healthy. We have installed signage to provide health safety tips, including the fact that social distancing and gatherings of more than 10 are still in force. The use of hand sanitiser before and after playground use is recommended and, if you have capacity, wiping down equipment before and after play is advised.

02.01.2022 Yesterday we were visited by Kaurna Narrunga man, Jack Buckskin. Jack performed a traditional smoking ceremony at school for students and staff of the school, preschool and Childrens Centre. The smoking ceremony was to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, and to highlight our shared responsibility to the environment. Individual artefacts were prepared for each class and site area to be guardians and custodians of, and to also highlight our shared responsibility for the environment. This was a special experience for staff and students of our site.

01.01.2022 We are developing our class structures for 2021 and it is important that we have accurate information about our 2021 enrolments. First round offers have been sent to families living in our schools catchment area. Early in September a second round of offers for students living out of catchment will be communicated to families who have expressed interest. We ask that families wanting to enrol their children in the preschool or primary school for the 2021 school year (and who ...live in the Cowandilla area) to make contact with us as soon as possible. We have limited places available due to our increasing enrolments. The following website will tell you which preschool catchment area or school zone you live in. If you live in an area that is not part of a catchment area or school zone, it will show you the closest school by road. https://www.education.sa.gov.au///find-school-or-preschool
