21.01.2022 The Rainbow Fish and Turtles had a great day, painting outside with paint or water. As it was too hot to stay outside they came in to the air conditioning and unwound doing yoga. Together the children made a poster of Australia by hand-print painting as well as one for themselves. They also learnt more about Australia by drawing our flag as well as that from other countries. Tomorrow they continue their learning by making cube sushi for their afternoon tea. Hmm...delicious!

20.01.2022 Well here is our cube-sushi being made. The children chose which healthy toppings they wanted , and after learning more about food hygiene, they constructed their afternoon tea for themselves and their younger friends. We offer learning experiences for all the children that enhance their understanding about their culture as well as many others. This is done through different activity, story telling and music to name a few examples.

20.01.2022 Today the children learnt about heaven, as one of the baby chicks passed away over night . Educators talked to the children about how sometimes animals and humans pass away and go up into heaven. The children voiced their concerns for the baby chick and made it a card. We buried it as a group and said goodbye to the chick as it was covered over in the garden. Some children didn’t want to participate in the burial, but were encouraged to draw on the card to say their goodbyes.

18.01.2022 The children have been involved in the Henny Penny hatching program for the last 2 weeks. The children have been learning about the life cycle of a chicken through various activities and books. This has sparked conversations about where eggs come from, so the preschool children have learnt that there are different kinds of eggs , farm, free range and caged eggs. The children have watched the eggs hatch and observed how the chickens have grown and become well enough to be p...laced in the pen with the other chicks . Some families are lucky enough to be able to take some baby chicks home. We all love this program so much! And can’t wait to watch the chicks grow

15.01.2022 The preschool children this week are learning about health and safety by interacting with one another in the doctors surgery that they have helped set up. Each child is being involved in becoming a doctor and assisting their patients with their medical needs. Yesterday the children preformed surgery to help bring a baby into the world. The children are also learning how connect train tracks together, but most importantly learn the rules when walking/driving near and around train tracks. They are learning to stop when the lights flash and the boom gates come down and when to walk/drive safely when the train has gone.

11.01.2022 Clean Up Australia inspires and empowers communities to clean up, fix up and conserve our environment. Clean Up Australia works nationally to empower communities, businesses, schools and youth groups to remove rubbish from our environment. This year the children will be engaging in play experiences that promote and support Clean up Australia Day and we would love for all the families to join in on Sunday March 3rd in your community to clean up and protect the beautiful enviro...nment that we have in Coffs Harbour. Help your children to be the change we all want to see in our world. We will be making a wall of fame to recognise the contributions we all make and would love for you to take some photos of your children participating so we can pin them up.

09.01.2022 Rise and shine it's time. Get your gloves out and grab a rubbish bag and clean up your patch of Australia this weekend. This rubbish makes it way to our beaches and has a devastating impact on our marine and bird life. https://www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au/join-a-clean-up click on one of the groups listed and it will take you to the details and times of their organised clean up if you wish to not do it on your own. And remember to take some snaps and send it to us by fb, email or printed for our wall of recognition. Thankyou everyone looking forward to seeing what great things we achieve this weekend.

09.01.2022 Crawling is such an important part of children’s development.

09.01.2022 The babies and toddlers are learning about transport vehicles and car washing as this is a follow on from their interests in water play. Educator Sarah has put numbers on the piano and the children have been learning the different notes and letters of the keys. The songs they are learning are happy birthday and twinkle little star.

06.01.2022 What a fun day the children have had! The preschool children have been learning about their bodies and how they work. For the school readiness program, the preschool children are learning to recognise and write each letter in their name.

06.01.2022 The Joey’s and Gecko’s children have had so much fun and great learning experiences today. The children have been hand painting the Australian map by using colours of different flags of Australia. They are developing a love for sensory explorations, fine motor skills and a sense of identity. The children have been interested in drawing, so to assist with developing their fine motor skills they have been working with clay and wooden clay tools. The children were poking the c...lay tools into the clay and said they were making a birthday cake. Educators then added matchsticks to extend upon their interest in poking the tools into the clay so the tools could continue being used by everyone. In the afternoon we added natural small logs, wood discs and mini pine cones along with a banksia seed pod for rolling and exploring. The children have also been interested in the tools work bench and we have been learning ‘Joanie works with one hammer’ by The Wiggles, where they are learning gross motor skills, coordination, auditory skills and directions performing specific tasks. They read stories and are developing language and vocabulary skills that they will use to build friendships, work collaboratively with others and communicate for a range of purposes. They read ‘Where is the green sheep’ and ‘The very cranky bear’. The children have been spending time with the infants during their tummy time experiences. They are all caring and careful with them and are learning how to treat others with care and respect and include everyone in play.

05.01.2022 Can the Baby Shark song really save a life? When it comes to remembering the rate of CPR compressions - it actually can! Good job you've got it stuck in your head after all!

05.01.2022 Tomorrow we are having a special visit from Gina and one of her amazing dogs. The Living Safely with Dogs is an interactive preschool program that helps children know and understand the right and wrong ways to approach a dog. The children are excited for Gina to come http://www.pets.nsw.milura.com.au/preschool/page1-3.php

05.01.2022 Some helpful information in regards to teething babies :)

05.01.2022 The preschool children have been learning about different kinds of shapes by using a brain twister activity. The shapes are magnetic and can be placed together to form another shape. As a group, the children were forming different kinds of shapes such as circles out of 4 different shapes. This activity helps with fine motor development and provides children with learning environments/activities that are flexible and open-ended.
