We would love to see some photos of your pets living it up at home, for those of you who are in isolation, what are you doing to keep your pet happy? ... Here is a great link from the RSPCA on home enrichment ideas for your dog. https://rspcavic.org/8-enrichment-ideas-for-your-dog Post your photos below! And stay safe. With love, Cowes Vet Team.

12.01.2022 To all of our lovely clients, In an effort to protect the wellbeing and health of our staff and clients we are making a few minor changes to the way we operate until further notice. During this time we will still be opened as per normal opening hours... 9:30-5:30pm Monday- Friday, 9:30-12pm Saturday and closed Sundays. If you have an Emergency with your pet and are currently in isolation due to illness within your household, please CALL the clinic to arrange for your animal to be seen as safely and efficiently as possible. When you arrive at the clinic for your appointment, please report to reception to notify us of your arrival, we will kindly ask you to then wait outside the clinic on our comfy chairs, or in your vehicle. We kindly ask that no more than 1 individual accompanies your pet to their appointment unless absolutely necessary. We also have a large hand sanitiser at reception, and we ask that you please use this prior to entering the consult room. Please, if you have any concerns or are unsure if your pet is needing to be seen urgently. Give us a call on 5952 2936 and we will steer you in the right direction. Kind regards, your Cowes Vet team.

10.01.2022 COVID-19 UPDATE Dear customers, During this time, we are needing to make a few changes to the way we operate to ensure the health and safety of our staff, to remain open we must reduce traffic in and around the clinic. ... We are currently operating from our side window on the right-hand side of the clinic and will greet you at the front door to collect your pet We are asking for no person to enter the clinic at this time. This includes over the counter sales and surgery admissions. We are not currently taking bookings for non-urgent visits; this includes routine vaccinations and nail trims, if your animal is needing to be vaccinated due to travel or boarding kennel requirements, please let us know and we will make you a time. Please note we are still taking bookings for PUPPY AND KITTEN vaccinations. If you already have a booking with us this rule does not apply. We are still accepting bookings for routine surgeries including de-sexing and will try to accommodate your needs if you feel they are an urgency. Our opening hours are staying the same, but we have made some slight changes to our staff roster to ensure we have two separate teams, when you are making your booking, please be sure to notify our staff if you prefer to see a specific veterinarian as our roster may have changed. If you have any concerns around this message, please contact us on 5952 2936. Kind regards, The Cowes Vet Team

03.01.2022 Wildlife are suffering in record numbers due to the prolonged drought and devastating bushfire season. You can help. At the moment, what the wildlife carers on ...the frontline of this crisis need most is money to source the exact products they need to best look after injured wildlife. There are also some products that are urgently needed to help keep animals still in bushfire zones alive. If you can donate money there’s a few ways you can help: 1) You can call or drop into the Cowes Vet or Newhaven Veterinary Clinic (Wonthaggi, Phillip Island and Inverloch Veterinary Clinic) and donate money that will go to buying precious medical supplies. 2) You can donate to our local wildlife carer Colleen directly. She is in communication with fellow carers on the frontlines and can purchase what is needed most. Bank transfers can be made to: Wildlife Rescue Account BSB 633 000 169 091 246 ***Please write Fire appeal as the transfer description*** 3) You can also donate to this Go Fund Me that was started by the team at the Bairnsdale Wildlife Hub. These funds will go directly to the frontline carers. https://www.gofundme.com/f/australian-wildlife-emergency-su If you would prefer to donate goods, please make sure to only provide goods that licensed wildlife carers are asking for. At the moment, Colleen has been instructed from her contacts in Bairnsdale that they urgently need teff, chaff, or lucerne hay, wombat and kangaroo pellets, muslin baby wraps and water carriages or water bowls / tubs of any size. If you would like to donate these goods, please contact us @islandpawprints to organise a drop off location. If you are handy with tools they also urgently need possum boxes and dreys, and bird nests. If you think you can help making these, please contact us for more information and a drop off location. Thank you, Serra and Dale on behalf of Colleen.
