05.01.2022 So we've arrived to the most important night of the Cowra squash club calendar, the Cowra Squash Championships of 2020. There's some fresh faces on the scene this year, all keen to get their name on the board. In women's D, we've got the adopted Aussie Imogen Park up against Faith in D. Faith lost in the final of D last year but is back again and better, and she's keen to get her name up on the board! In Men's D, we've got two new to the club in Mark Brown and Isaac McFarland.... They both had 5 setters tonight so it might be a battle of who pulls up the best tomorrow morning. Stay tuned! In Mens C, we've got the elder of the McFarland's, in all his beardy glory, Tony, up against Dave Doran, a fearsome competitor who has improved suddenly once coming on the scene only a few comps ago. In the women's C, there's a longstanding rivalry that will be decided, Tish V Shaneen. Can Shaneen get her treasures? Or is Tish going to keep them all for herself? In Women's B, Nicky (SavBlanc) Savage v Sneaky Sandra Uren, who will come out on top? Sandra got up against Nicky in the round robin, but never rule out SavBlanc in a finals match.. she seems to keep it all for these big games. Men's B, Pat Charnock v Matt Hammell. A commonly known fact and self-dubbed as "the best player to never get his name up on the board" Pat is the closest he will ever come to doing just that. With him getting a bit longer in the tooth these days, it might be crucial he does that tomorrow night, or will Matty put an end to this so-called fairytale? In the opens, it's the returning champ Tracey Taylor v Kerrie Troth. Tracey has had a 3-0 run into the final, and she's looking very strong at the moment, but can Kerrie pull of the upset of all upsets.. we will have to wait and see. And the final game of the night, a fearsome sibling rivalry that has been going on ever since they picked up the racket, it's Toby Baker v Jack Baker. Jack, the current defending champ has won the last 3 champs in a row BUT Toby has won the last 2 big finals against Jack at both Forbes and Crookwell. Can Toby stop the winning streak and put himself on the board for the second time, or will Jack sneak away with his fourth? Come and watch TOMORROW NIGHT STARTING FROM 5:45PM. Itl be shown on two projector screens in the main foyer, so come grab a feed and watch some good quality squash with some quality spectators! Final contenders 5:45 Women's D: Imogen Park (1) v Faith Hoppe (2) 6:30 Men's D: Isaac McFarland (1) v Mark Brown (2) 7:15 Women's C: Shaneen Treasure (1) v Tish Charnock (2) 8:00 Men's C: Tony McFarland (1) v Dave Doran (3) 5:45 Women's B: Nicky Savage (1) v Sandra Uren (2) 6:30 Men's B: Matt Hammell (1) v Pat Charnock (3) 7:15 Women's Open-A: Tracey Taylor (1) v Kerrie Troth (2) 8:00 Men's Open-A: Toby Baker (3) v Jack Baker (1) For those that aren't able to make it to the club to watch, join in on the fun and watch the livestreams on the Facebook page 'Cowra Squash Club'.
