15.01.2022 Beware Rabbit Calicivirus is about! We have just recently had some devastating bunny losses due to this horrible disease . Please vaccinate your rabbits if they are outside. ... Calicivirus is extremely resistant in the environment, it is caught via direct contact with infected wild rabbits, through touching infected objects or via insects such as mosquitos and flies. What you can do: Adult bunnies need vaccinating every 6 months to stay protected. Kits need two vaccinations a month apart, and then 6 monthly. #bunnies #keepthemhealthy #calicivirus #nasty #cowra

10.01.2022 What a beautiful day!

09.01.2022 GRASS SEEDS! This beautiful girl is Millie! She popped by yesterday as her owner noticed she had a sore leg. On examination it was found she had numerous grass seeds digging into her armpit causing irritation and pain (see pics) .. ouch! ... When they were removed - it was surprising how many there were! - the area was flushed and cleaned and she started her antibiotics and pain relief. She will be feeling so much better! Please carefully check you dog for grass seeds! There is SO much grass around from this amazing spring, but unfortunately it comes at a price. Check your dog over daily, the seeds love to lodge in crevices, between toes, in underarms, eyes, ears and even around bottoms! Simply pulling them out prevents them from sitting, becoming moist and moving through the skin into your dogs body. Little abscesses are common and sometimes dogs require surgery to remove seeds. Clipping long haired dogs also really helps along with regular mowing, keeping the mature seeds out of your lawns.

02.01.2022 Duke is a dude! This beautiful boy visited yesterday and was so well behaved! (Plus gave hand shakes!) He had a lump checked -Vet Kellie used a small needle to take some cells from the lump to check for suspicious activity. It was a Lipoma, a fat based lump (- swipe left), commonly found in older dogs and totally fine.... He had a sore leg - and we are suspicious he has stretched or inflamed his cruciate ligament, so was dispensed some pain relief and prescribed rest - no more ball chasing for now! AND he had his teeth checked, being nearly 7 he has some very mild gum inflammation and gingivitis, so we came up with some strategies to try and increase mechanical stimulation to his gums. And after all that he just wanted pats! Thanks for visiting DUKE so glad we could help! #vetvisits #checkover #preventativehealth

01.01.2022 Who loves the afternoon light at the moment?! It’s so beautiful. #farmvisits #reidsflat #cowra
