24.01.2022 Stage 2 have been focusing their studies this term on the environment and the Earth. The classroom reader has been ‘Blueback’, by Tim Winton, which is the story of the relationship a boy develops with a Blue Groper in the ocean. Tomorrow, Wednesday 23 September, all the classes will be celebrating the unit of study with a number of different events created by the students and teachers. In the afternoon they will be connecting with a scuba-diver to learn about her experiences in the ocean. Students have been asked, if they wish to, to please dress up for the occasion as either a fisherman or an environmentalist to help make the day a celebration of this term’s learning!!

10.01.2022 Please join us and Deaf Children Australia in celebrating Australia's sign language, Auslan, to raise awareness about deaf language and culture during National Week of Deaf People, 19-25 September. The staff at Cowra Public would like to say hello to you and introduce themselves in AUSLAN. A big thank you to our Hearing Teacher Mrs Emma Tree for coaching us in AUSLAN! We’ve kept the video silent to give you an idea of what it might be like to have a conversation with someone... if you didn’t have any hearing. Why don’t you have a go? Have a look at the AUSLAN alphabet in our comments section to learn your name.

06.01.2022 Stage 2 had a great afternoon yesterday learning with Karen Player from the Australian Environmental Education group about the equipment used by a scuba diver, and seeing photos of all the amazing sea creatures she encountered in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Sydney and the Central Coast of NSW! Students in Stage 2 also worked on a research project where they investigated a type of fish. Then they transferred this information in a spoken text using an app called Chatterpix. The four classes viewed each other’s production through the use of QR codes and iPads. The whole day was a celebration of learning!
