25.01.2022 Went down to the station today to water some plants. WRONG thing to do - well not really Busy watering when a car pulled up and the driver walked along the platform and through the carpark. I casually asked whether they would like to have a look inside. Only just into a tour and another couple joined in for a tour. Before long there were 6 cars parked in the car park, all passengers wandering around the station.... More visitors today than Open Day. It was a Merv Seymour FEEL GOOD day, all the visitors were extremely nice people and kept thanking me over and over for opening the station for them. Went down to the station just after lunch, got back home just before 5:00 pm. Did manage however to water the plants I missed on Open Day.
25.01.2022 Very busy day, a huge amount of interest in the Railway Station. Visitors from all over the place and some locals. Max Duffey and his daughter visited and spent a considerable time looking around. Max was long time employed at Cowra Railway Station and probably the last person employed when the station was still active. His daughter recalled the many happy times spent as a child at the station, sitting on the coal in the coal tender and Rosie, the magnificent stea...m train nearly ready for service again. For me it was a huge pleasure to talk father & Daughter about the station. There were many visitors, the first at 9:00 am, a local that had not been to the station in many years. He regularly caught the train to Sydney in the 1970's. This gentleman was good friends with Mr. Shakey. Mr. Shakey was the most loved and endeared member of the CAVC Sadly we lost Mr. Shakey (Merv Seymour) a few years ago, but is still very much remembered by the members. Being friends with Merv there was as much discussion about Merv as was about the Railway Station. It wasn't until 12:30 pm before the visitors stopped coming. Merv Seymour was the one that coined the phrase "a feel good day" that is often used. This was certainly a feel good day.

11.01.2022 Please if you can help it would be appreciated. Today 18th January a brand new Green Sulo bin was stolen from Cowra Railway Station. If anybody knows who stole ...it or if you stole it, I would like it returned in the next 24 hours. If not returned I will be taking the surveillance camera video footage to the police. There are some really good shots of the white people mover and the occupants. Some pretty clear pictures of the number plate, yet to be uploaded onto a computer which make the pictures even clearer than the screen used for surveillance. Please help as the bins are expensive and the Railway Station is managed by a community group not for profit.
11.01.2022 Sad to see, I believe John Holland have sprayed poison and mowed the grass on the tracks. The result of poison drift. All the pots and plants on other side of station are growing profusely will the recent rain. More unnecessary work because of lack of attention or care.
07.01.2022 Pretty quiet day, only four visitors but seven members attended the day for a chat. One visitors was telling me his grandfather was on Rosie when it was in full... service. Rosie is a steam train that has been owned by Lachlan Valley Railway for many years, Rosie has just gone through a major refurbishment and is ready to go back to work as a tourist train for LVR. The group sat and chatted for a while and Mr McCann arrived back and presented with a photo of Rosie with Jack McCann standing beside Rosie The photo was taken at Wingen in the Hunter Valley. Thanks for the information and photo, the photo will go beside the photo of Rosie in the Roundhouse at LVR that hangs in the waiting room at the station Our new garden consultant came down in the morning to look at what we have and how it could be improved. He is going away to write up what he suggests will grow well on the bank. Another interesting day, the day went very quick. After closing up it was yet another trip to the police station to give a further statement in regards to the 2019 break-in.
05.01.2022 The cost for the Council to repair the potholes on the entrance to the Railway Station was $1500. This was done as a community project by the Shire Council. The CAVC who care for the station are very grateful to the Cowra Shire Council. The Cowra Antique Vehicle Club is a non profit charity organisation who maintain the Station and put in many hours of their time with minor maintenance and upkeep. It is the club that opens the station on the last Sunday of each month, the cl...ub also provides the workforce for working bees. Quite often the workers provide or pay for items out of their own pockets. Lawn mowing, hedge trimming and weeding have all the tools provided by the workers. Once again the CAVC appreciates the help of the Cowra Shire Council,
04.01.2022 Lunch on day 5 of the Roundhouse road test, fettlers requiring to screw in 6 more screw spikes to finish gauging. Then a bit of lifting and packing and spread some gravel.
