Simone has been heavily involved over the last number of years at our club and is very excited to get the associates committee up and running as per years before. 04.01.2022 Ten’s More than a Tournament For the 28th year, Cowra Rugby Club will host the longest running annual Tens tournament in Australia. For the twenty teams entering the March 7th event, which will feature four women’s and 16 men’s side, it is a chance to celebrate rugby and its friendship. For Cowra Rugby club captain Conor Lamond, in what will be the sixth year he has entered his side Paddy’s, he cherishes that opportunity as a way to honour his brother. It started in 2014 aft...er Paddy passed away, his good mate Pat Meiklejohn had a great idea to put together a memorial team for him, We grew up in Cowra, so we thought it would be a great to get his friends and family together to play and have a bit of a catch up, It was only going to be a one-off, but now it’s six years later and it’s been a brilliant success every time we play together. For Lamond, the pride in representing his brother at the Cowra Tens is indescribable as he loves putting together the team as a way for everyone to remember him in their own way. As each year goes by its something that everyone looks forward to, and I have been looking forward to this tournament for a few months now, We just enjoy being out there [on the field], and love playing in memory for him, and being able to have a crack for him is just a great way to remember my brother, So, for us it’s a chance to remember Paddy in the spirit that he lived his life by, family and friendship, It’s all about the Spirit of Rugby, that’s why we get together. We love it because he did, Cowra Ten’s Organiser Adam Meiklejohn says every year the event grows but the Paddy’s side is always one of the special pieces that makes the day. When you get teams coming from right across the region and even across the state, it is special, But to have a team who are representing such an influential figure of our town and our rugby club, you just know the day is not complete without them. The Cowra Ten’s will be played at the Cowra Rugby Fields on Saturday 7th March, with games commencing at midday. Gate entry is $5 and games are played all day with the final to be held around 7pm.
