21.01.2022 A great summary from a fun camp! It was inspirational to hear the young athletes encouraging each other on, and focussing on the group goals of giving everything a go. For many of the participants this was their first CPA activity, and we hope they have got the bug about joining in more sport, whether that is with us, or in their local community. head Coach, Peter King https://cerebralpalsy.org.au/sstposts/StoryId1570572664154

21.01.2022 Most people throughout the world are currently nervous about the potential impact of COVID-19, however, it’s now more important than ever to remind everyone that we should still consider physical activity to support our immune system, and secondly to support our mental health! We want to remind everyone that our accredited exercise professionals at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance can help! We have started calling those we know to see how we can help you on this new and unplanned... journey. We are hoping we can help, maybe an updated home exercise program or even telehealth services. Start thinking about what might work for you and we hope to talk to you soon! Stay safe, stay health and stay connected! We would LOVE to see you guys use this platform to share and support each other through these potentially isolating times. xx https://exerciseright.com.au/exercise-home/ https://exerciseright.com.au/telehealth-virtual-home-healt/

12.01.2022 Race Running is fully back on at Ryde and Allambie and has attracted new members this term! The star of this term so far is Toby who has made significant progress during lockdown completing many laps up and down his living room. This paid off for him when he got back to Ryde, where he completed several solo laps of the 500m bike path. Building on this newly found confidence and endurance he then completed a demonstration of race running in front of his whole school. The pres...sure was on with friends, teachers and family cheering him on, but he focused on his technique and completed several sprints to claps and chanting of his name. Toby’s adoption of race running as a sport to develop his coordination, strength and endurance has been an example of determination and self-belief. Initially he could only achieve inches of independent movement, but now he can complete numerous laps of a 400m athletics track. Well done Toby!

11.01.2022 Water safety is a key message that we promote through our Autism Swim programs! Along with wandering and drowning prevention for children and participants, there is some homework for parents and carers too- Have you learnt CPR? There is a free online session to learn this weekend. You may want to jump on if you need a refresher prior to summer when we find ourselves spending more time near water such as oceans and pools which can unfortunately lead to tragic accidents. ...
