23.01.2022 When it comes to cosmetic injections, make sure they’re not illegal imports, by choosing a CPCA doctor. The general public should be aware that the substance they intend to purchase may not be sterile, with the potential to lead to difficult-to-treat infections, or worse, may be a toxic blend of something unidentifiable, leading to longer-term illness, scarring and disfigurement, says a formal warning from Cosmetics Physicians College of Australasia (CPCA) regarding client safety. The Victorian Government has implemented restrictions to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Pursuant to these restrictions, certain business must not trade. On 5 August 2020, the State Government introduced Stage 4 restrictions for businesses located in metropolitan Melbourne. Under the Restricted Activity Directions (Restricted Areas) (No 6), all businesses providing cosmetic treatment services are prohibited from operating until Stage 4 Restrictions are eased. 02.01.2022 Currently the regulations governing the use of lasers among states and territories vary significantly, ranging from minimal state regulations to none at all. While, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia have some form of regulation, with Queensland’s being the strictest, our two most populated cities, Sydney and Melbourne, have no regulation at all. However, as CPCA President, Dr Michael Molton points out, even in the states where regulation exists, the actual enforcement of those regulations is often lacking.
