25.01.2022 An insightful and particularly challenging article in Smart Company today - www.smartcompany.com.au - Titled "Small business and franchisee due diligence before starting up "unsophisticated" and "naive"". The article, by Eloise Keating, and featuring research by Professor Lorelle Frazer, a Director of the Asia Pacific Centre for Franchising Excellence cited the need for more comprehensive due diligence by prospective franchisees.

22.01.2022 At CPD Traveller we are, unashamedly, advocates of and for small business. And whilst we are neither experts in small business (simply because there are too many facets) nor do we have all the answers, we have, in our travels, worked with some very fine experts and professionals in their chosen fields. Whether it be innovation & entrepreneurship, social media & digital landscapes, cash flow management & capital allocation practices or behaviourial economics & thinking styles,... we are about building a "faculty" of experts to present at CPD Traveller conferences. Thus we are facilitators. We are also very keen advocates of the "buy-in", particularly between big business and small business. And in particular in ways of helping both parties to work more collaboratively and to work on ways of developing a better understanding, empathy and appreciation of each others drivers and circumstances. An outstanding example of this was the "buy-in" the coaching staff of the Wallablies displayed with the team on Saturday night prior to the game against the All Blacks. By standing on the field, shoulder-to-shoulder with the team, and joining in the singing of the national anthem, the coaching staff were prepared to "buy-in" to the self-belief required to undertake the significant task at hand. If you are a Small Business Professional - a lease negotiator, a franchise expert, a small business lawyer, a small business finance expert or an expert in any other SME field - and you would like to "buy-in" to the fiduciary ethos of CPD Traveller and to also educate and to network with SME Owners/Directors and Franchisees then please make contact with CPD Traveller. Please also go to CPD Traveller's Facebook page and Like or Share the page.

22.01.2022 Two great quotes to come out of the AFR Business Summit 2020: "An innovator doesn't need to be an expert in the discipline, they need to be a passionate problem... solver with the vision to draw people to work alongside them." Sally-Ann Williams, CEO, Cicada Innovations; and "The advice to my 18-year old self would be 'start a business now and fail'. I think running a business is the best form of education there is. It's a PhD in life." Nick Bell, Founder, Removify Very apt, very appropriate, very true...well said! Please also follow My Pharmacy Appraisal on LinkedIn. Website launch imminent! 19.01.2022 Did you know that there is a train of thought out there that is of the view that people who travel are more likely to be successful? Put together by Aly Walansky on YourTango and picked up by The Huffington Post, the article indicates that there is a lot of evidence that people who travel frequently tend to be rather successful. The article identifies seven (7) reasons why that include:... 1) A fear of the unknown helps to drive one's ambition; 2) Trying something new can expand one's horizons; 3) You'll learn to always see the big picture; 4) Vacations do improve your overall health; 5) Networking helps you to establish influence and respect; 6) Advanced planning ensures proper project completion; and 7) Travelling brings a higher (or broader) level of perspective. Want to learn more? Would you like to be exposed to CPD Traveller's "Four Pillars"? Like or share this post and Like CPD Traveller's Facebook page and we can start you on a fantastic journey.

01.01.2022 Who's behind CPD Traveller? And what's it's basic premise? On a ski travel adventure to Nozawa Onsen in February 2015, friends Tod O'Connor and Neil Thomas started to evolve the idea of using their many years of business knowledge and experience to facilitate an education and networking platform that really helped SME Owners/Directors and Franchisees. The vision was to create a relaxed, fun-filled and cultural environment that allowed people to learn, to network and to gain s...ome real life business benefits that weren't ordinarily available. Professional bodies have, for a very long time required their members to maintain certain levels of professional education so as to maintain their relevance in a fast paced world. Thus Continuing Professional Development or CPD. Most often CPD involves specific clinical or technical teachings or updates, but sometimes a degree of business discipline is added. The idea is to take those business aspects, remove any clinical or technical components, add to it and then create an environment of relevant education that's available to SME Owners/Directors and Franchisees. SME Owners/Directors and Franchisees would also have access to a "Faculty" of introduced professionals with skills, ideas and problem solving abilities in CPD Traveller's "Four Pillars" of innovation, digital, cash & capital and thinking styles. At different times during their long business careers, both had been involved in working directly for large corporates and institutions as well as, at other times, being SME Owners/Directors and Franchisees. Tod has been a merchant banker, a business banker and the owner/operator or multi-site, award winning, retail operations. More recently, he provides financial commentary and guidance in the pharmaceutical sector, valuing pharmacies and helping to create Priceline Pharmacies. Neil is a mathematician, a teacher, a sales professional, a business trainer and a professional underwater photographer and dive instructor. He currently provides cash flow solutions to the SME sector. But both will merely be the facilitators of CPD Traveller. Their strong desire is to build a "faculty" of SME experts with whom individuals can network and learn from, but in tax effective, fun-filled holiday locations.

01.01.2022 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and training for professionals and SME Owners/Directors (including Franchisees) in the areas of innovation & entrepreneurship, social media and the evolving digital landscape and cash flow management & capital (debt/equity/human) allocation and management all in fabulous and exotic locations around the world. We have, soon to be announced, outstanding Principal Partners who will bring significant experience, knowledge and insights to an exciting programme of events.
