25.01.2022 Its been a while since we last posted! Weve been busy behind the scenes.... So over to you! Any courses youd like us to bring you in 2018?

24.01.2022 A fascinating read, one which I'm sure will resonate with many parents.... I say this a lot - if your gut tells you things aren't right, get your child checked ...out by a medical professional. And if you aren't happy with their opinion, try someone else. "Oh he's just a boy." "She'll grow out of it." "Have you considered ADD?" All of these things were said to me personally as a mother about two of my own kids and you know what? No. Things were not ok. For either of my children. They both had Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. And no-one picked up on it but me BOTH times. Researchers are now strongly advocating that children who present with ADD and ADHD symptoms have their sleep checked first prior to official diagnosis...the symptoms of sleep disordered breathing and ADD/ADHD are so alike, its difficult even for doctors to tell apart. Not only that, research shows that an improvement in sleep quality can also help improve the symptoms of ADD and ADHD.....of course. Sleep is when the brain rests and repairs itself, so that makes sense. Don't ever be afraid to advocate strongly on behalf of your child. That's our super power as parents....no-one knows our babies like we do. Oral health professionals often notice SIGNS of sleep and breathing issues in children's mouths which prompt us to ask questions of parents about SYMPTOMS..... Your child's complete and overall health is something we here at The Thumbsucking Clinic are passionate about.....and we will continue to point parents in the direction of medical help whenever we see a child in need. But she was told if she had it dealt with she would need to learn to talk again. Outrageous!
