22.01.2022 It gives me great pleasure to announce that OZTAGWA have formed a partnership with Cystic Fibrosis (CF) WA and we will be asking you, our players and families to support this worthy cause when they have a fund raising event which will be advertised on our website or in the selling of raffle tickets. We will in particular, be supporting children with CF. There are approximately 335 people living with CF in WA. It is the most common, life-threatening genetic condition affectin...g Australian children today. 1 in 25 people are carriers of the CF gene, leading to 1 in every 2500 babies inheriting CF each year. CF causes a person’s lungs and digestive system to be impaired by a build-up of thick, sticky mucus which can result in lung damage, repeated infections and malnutrition. Each person with CF is affected differently, but a standard day could involve taking up to 40 tablets to help with digestion and going through up to two hours of airway-clearance physiotherapy. Many people with CF become regulars on the ward at Princess Margaret and Sir Charles Gardiner Hospitals when they can no longer manage at home. At present there is no cure for CF, so any monies raised will help Cystic Fibrosis WA to provide essential services for people who are living with this condition and to deliver much needed funding for critical research projects.
