21.01.2022 A few happy snaps from yesterdays visit to the Melbourne Zoo to see Leon the Snow Leopard and a sneaky visit back stage to see Sampit and Isidor the Siamang Gibbons. (Dont worry about the man with the gun! It was a precautionary dart gun in case Leon woke up too soon)

19.01.2022 Meet Pennye Long from Hampton Park whose loving family have been doing it tough. Single Mum Kylie and 7 year old daughter Charli were coming through a time of ...financial, psychological and emotional hardship and adopted a Border Collie pup Marley to heal their hearts. Tragically Marley developed a rare form of liver cancer and died before she was 2 years old - leaving Kylie with more debt. They were distraught and Kylie soon got Charli another Border Collie pup who Charli welcomed home with a plaque "Welcome Pennye" - and the original name and spelling have stuck. Kylie took Pennye to the Pound Road Vet in Hampton Park last month to be desexed. On examination Pennye was found to have a heart murmur and further examination by cardiologist Richard Woolley found she has a patent ductus arteriosis (PDA). PDA is a persistent opening between two major blood vessels leading from the heart. The opening, called the ductus arteriosus, is a normal part of a babys / puppys circulatory system before birth that usually closes shortly after birth. The ductus arteriosus did not close in Pennyes case. Without surgery Pennyes life span will be 1-3 years. With surgery she can happily live to be an old girl of 14 or 15. The cost of surgery however is $4,500 and Kylie simply could not afford to save her 2nd darling. The PMCF have been pleased to be able to donate $1,000 and then liaised with Dr Richard who has reduced the cost to $3,000 for this special girl. The breeder has also kindly donated to get Pennyes surgery underway and Kylies friends have been raising funds to get this dear girls surgery done. Great team work!! We are delighted to report that Pennye has gone to surgery today at the Pet Emergency and Specialist Centre in East Malvern. Pennye has full confidence in her specialist and we wish her well in her surgery today. Go Pennye! Love from all your friends at the PMCF xxxxooooxxxx

18.01.2022 Click the link below to read little Russells story. Russell was born with severe Pulmonic Stenosis and had surgery with us 2 weeks ago to improve/repair this issue.

17.01.2022 Today we are heading off to do some Echocardiograms at Wonthaggi Vet Clinic, Warrigal Vet Clinic and Stud Park Vet clinic.

15.01.2022 It was all hands on deck yesterday when CPR visited the Melbourne Uni Vet School in Werribee to do an Echocardiogram on "Bay" the 7yo Australian Fur Seal from Melbourne Zoo.

14.01.2022 In addition to CPR Victoria now being fully independently owned and operated by Victorias ONLY specialist veterinary cardiologist, Richard Woolley, CPR Victoria has gone mobile offering a specialist mobile, in-practice cardiorespiratory service for all of Melbourne and Regional Victoria

07.01.2022 You may have noticed a little more activity on the CardioRespiratory Pet Referrals page recently (OK there has actually been some activity!) and Id like to thank my excellent new nurse Leah Blackmore for this and also to welcome her to CardioRespiratory Pet Referrals as well as wishing her happy birthday for today.

06.01.2022 A few happy snaps from yesterday's visit to the Melbourne Zoo to see Leon the Snow Leopard and a sneaky visit back stage to see Sampit and Isidor the Siamang Gibbons. (Don't worry about the man with the gun! It was a precautionary dart gun in case Leon woke up too soon)

01.01.2022 Yesterday was not your average day for CPR Victoria. As some of you may have seen on the news last night, Melbourne Zoos Snow Leopard, Leon, had an all over health check which luckily for us included a repeat echocardiogram!! Leon was diagnosed by Richard a few years ago with a mild mitral valve regurgitation which at the time was causing no problems and after yesterdays recheck, Leon was again given a clean cardiac bill of health. A special thanks to the Melbourne Zoo for their tireless efforts in providing the best for these endangered species (and for the back stage tour to see the noisy Gibbons!)
