24.01.2022 Crime prevention through environmental design (CPTED) is the perfect tool to assist in manipulating the built environment to create safer neighborhoods. The theory behind CPTED is that the design of a physical environment can produce behavioural effects that will reduce both the incidence and fear of crime. These behavioural effects can be accomplished by reducing the susceptibility of the environment to support criminal behaviour.... The current Urban Design Guidelines for Victoria are now the relevant policy guidelines within the State Planning Policy Framework of the Victoria Planning Provisions. 24.01.2022 Proactive engagement from developers leads to improvements in Councils Community consultations and Reports. Any municipality that has the foresight to demonstrate and improved perceptions of safety at home and on the street generally indicate that the community feels safe, with all ages on average rating high perceptions of safety at 84%. The 25 34 year old age group rated their perceptions slightly lower, perhaps indicating a different view of safety as there is extra time... spent out of their work and home during late nights. The proposed plan seeked to prioritise social crime prevention approaches that are underpinned by the key principles of: 1. Prevention 2. Harm minimization 3. Education and information sharing 4. Leadership and collaboration 5. Building evidence and 6. Access and equity. #community #paulharrison #securityconsultant #projectsynergies #economicdevelopment #localgovernment #crimeprevention #transparency
24.01.2022 Good Refresher Session with the ICAC Crime Prevention Forum Workshop The purpose of this guidance by the NSW Independent Commission Against Corruption was to describe the role that NSW public sector Audit and Risk Committees should play in managing the risk of fraud and corruption. It explained and further clarified how Audit and Risk Committees can safeguard integrity and control fraud and corruption through monitoring, reviewing, and providing advice about an agency’s:... fraud and corruption control framework investigations of suspected fraud and corruption internal audits risk management outsourced activities and supply chains external audit management of probity. One area of interest was management of Probity or lack thereof in many agencies - Agencies often engage internal staff or supposed external experts to assess and advise on the probity of key projects and transactions. Conflict of Interest and personal relationship management is a key element that required review prior to engagement of supposed skilled staff or external auditors. 24.01.2022 Wondering How to Vote for the Rochester Ward ? VOTE 1 - Paul Harrison The future of Campaspe needs to be built on the historic foundations and the values that represent community and family.... Through proactive community partnerships and collective goodwill, we can and will create the new complete shire experience. Building these experiences with all towns in the shire will bring more opportunities for people to create and trade. It needs to be about supporting local employment and economic growth. Council needs to be more approachable, friendly and supportive to all of us and not to be seen to preference a few. #PaulHarrison #campapsenews #candidateforcampaspecouncil #mentalhealthawareness #ethicsmatter #campaspeshire #rivherald #wellbeing #rochester #YouthMentalHealthMatter
19.01.2022 The right selection of ETHICAL Security design consultant makes the difference in VALUE for MONEY. Especially when it comes to spending money from the Federal or State PUBLIC Funds. Picking the right product for the job is critical when it comes to design and client solutions, ensuring the correct selection of cameras capture stable round-the-clock video, regardless of environmental factors such as zero light, bright light, backlight, shadows, fog, smog, and rain is key.... The two most common challenges in traditional CCTV protection are frequent false alarms and poor imaging quality in limited light. Bi-Spectrum Image Fusion technology, which provides more image detail by supplementing thermal images with optical ones, providing viewers a powerful tool to identify hidden objects and verify unusual events. #crimeprevention #securityconsultant #securityconsulting #ethicsmatter #projectsynergies #community
15.01.2022 Councils can better prevent and detect misuse of information by adopting the Victorian Protective Data Security Framework for improving information security, increasing information security training, conducting comprehensive audit programs to identify and deter misuse, improving procurement processes, and raising employee and community awareness of risks and the importance of reporting incidents when they occur. 12.01.2022 Candidate for Campaspe Shire Council The military taught me about integrity, honesty, hard work and the importance of working in a team. But more importantly to me, having someone in my life that has shown me that assisting others for PTSD, Mental Health and other wellbeing issues shows empathy and compassion. This provides me the right ability to fight for what’s right when other people cannot do it for themselves. Having had multiple successful careers, I feel it’s time for... me to use my experience and skills and help Campaspe Shire move forward into the future and that’s why I’m running for Campaspe Shire Council. Among my primary goals is to advocate for the individual, not just the loudest groups. We must ensure the council has the infrastructure and services to handle the increasing numbers of visitors to our shire and understand that there is a role for the council in facilitating the growth of small business. I understand the roles of planning, consultation, feedback and review, it is now time to start working together and embrace the future.
11.01.2022 As a CPTED method, smart security lighting can effectively prevent crimes by drawing the attention of pedestrians. The shift to LED security lighting can provide a high level of control through smart networks and reduce lighting energy consumption. Historical and ongoing pedestrian anxiety about night crimes in alleyways is an important issue in our society. Therefore, recommended illuminance levels in pedestrian alleys have been established and security lighting meeting suc...h illuminance levels has been installed to ensure proper brightness. However, pedestrians may still feel that such areas are too dark and want to ensure their safety through sufficient brightness, especially late at night. #securityconsultant #projectsynergies #paulharrison #securitymanagement #crimeprevention #localgovernment

06.01.2022 Take a tour of a safe and secure home, highlighting a number of important preventative measures which can be taken to minimise injury and provide a safe and secure home environment for all. Approaching the home from the street: There is ample lighting with no dark or hidden areas.... All pathways are well lit. The paths are wide, paved, level and not slippery. Good drainage reduces the danger of slipping. There are no sudden changes of level which could trip people. If there is a change in level, it is made clearly visible by contrasting colours and protected by non-slip edging. The front yard is organised so intruders cannot break and enter without being seen. The view of the side of the house is also maximised. It is obvious what is public space and what is private space. Property lines and private areas are defined with plants, paving, screens or fences. The front yard creates a transitional area between the street and the home. Visitors are directed to the proper entrance and away from private areas by walkways and landscaping. The garage is locked with quality keyed locks. Undercover parking is provided and can be reached along a continuous and even surface. #cpted #projectsynergies #securityconsulting #paulharrison #safesecuredesign
06.01.2022 The Australian Cyber Security Centre responded to almost 2300 cyber security incidents last year, including more than 400 at the federal government level - the largest proportion of any sector. The finding is contained in the inaugural ‘ACSC annual cyber threat report’ [ https://www.cyber.gov.au//ACSC-Annual-Cyber-Threat-Report- ], which provides a detailed breakdown of incidents last financial year and offers "best-practice" mitigation advice. #cybersecurity #cybersecurity #securityconsultant #securityconsulting #crimeprevention #projectsynergies
