11.01.2022 Fall armyworm has been detected in QLD and is more dispersed than previously thought. Fall armyworm is an invasive pest that feeds on more than 350 plant ...species and impacts economically important cultivated grasses such as maize, rice, sorghum, sugarcane and wheat, as well as fruit and vegetable and cotton crops. It can travel quickly. In just under three years it has spread across two continents and to over 60 countries and can damage and destroy a wide variety of crops. Please undertake regular surveillance, as early detection is key to effective management of the pest. If you suspect fall armyworm, contract the Exotic Plant Pest Hotline (1800 084 881). APVMA has minor use permits in place for crops, which were sending out to all AgForce members via email. Please monitor your inbox over the next 24 hours. Government and industry are working together to assist producers, and we will circulate more information as soon as it becomes available. Please keep an eye out in Tuesdays member newsletter for this information. For any enquiries, contact us on 07 3236 3100 / [email protected] or the DAF Customer Call Centre on 13 25 23. 06.01.2022 Today (and every other day) is R U OK? day. As a new day starts some of us struggle to face this day with a clear mind and positive attitude Some of us have more bad days than good. If you know someone that has more of the bad days than good, it might be time to ask them "R U OK?". Starting a conversation with these 3 little words could change a life. Statistics indicate that 1 in 5 Australians are affected by mental illness. So grab your mate and ask them "R U OK?"... For more information about R U OK? day and conversation starters visit https://www.ruok.org.au/
06.01.2022 We experienced our best cotton harvest that weve had at Colorada so far with exceptional yields & quality in a challenging year. This year we planted a signifi...cantly reduced area due to the ongoing drought. We also decided to grow our cotton on after over 400mm of rain fell in January & February when it was due to be harvested, which delayed picking until early May. Here is Colorada farm manager Dean Thompson in the crop at harvest in May. We are really proud of our hard working team and the result of 17.29 bales per hectare. We appreciate the length of season and the opportunity that the CQ region provides. #cottonaustralia #australiancotton #auscotton #australianfarming #centralqueensland #emeraldqld #wemakeyourclothes @ Emerald, Queensland Dean Thompson Nigel Burnett Jayden Thompson Peter McGirr CQ Ag Services See more
05.01.2022 CQ AG Services recently attended a FREE Sensible Stock Supplementation session held by DAF Qld. The session covered topics such as choosing the right supplements for this time of year, maintaining stock condition and herd management. I thoroughly recommend attending courses like this one during these trying times as drought affects us all in different ways, but there is help available. QLD Government are offering a drought assistance scheme to eligible producers. There are m...ultiple subsidies available, some of these include water and fodder freight, emergency water infrastructure and transport of livestock. If you think you may be eligible for these subsidies below is the DAF link to the guidelines and forms: https://www.daf.qld.gov.au//assistance-pr/guidelines-forms Here you will also find drought management plans, fact sheets and declared property maps. Follow our facebook page for more of these great information sessions in our region.
