25.01.2022 Australias best medical scientists are hard at work to discover a vaccine, but even if they do, we may not have the capacity to manufacture it here. Theyre lo...oking out for us, we need to back them too. So, the Greens are calling for $70 million to ensure we can make any vaccinations here in Australia. See more

24.01.2022 Proud to be the first Senator speaking remotely as the chamber enters the 21st century. Would be great to continue that trend to modernity by seeing more women in Cabinet and a more representative parliament! Thanks to all parly staff who worked overtime on the tech.

24.01.2022 The climate doesnt care about politics. It just needs an Australian government to show some leadership and deal with the climate crisis.

24.01.2022 Care should be about people, not profit. For years, the aged care sector has been profiting off miserable residents and overworked staff. Thats why we are ca...lling on the Morrison government to invest $3bn in aged care to free the sector from corporate clutches. https://bit.ly/30HCQ8h

23.01.2022 Here's how your Senators voted this week

20.01.2022 Cutting JobKeeper today to fund a tax cut for multi-millionaires next year is savagely unfair and economically illiterate. Scott Morrison is cutting JobKeeper t...o fund an early tax cut for Clive Palmer. This is trickle-down brutality. With so many businesses struggling, unemployment still through the roof and Victoria under lockdown, we can’t afford to cut JobKeeper. If the money is there to give millionaires an early tax cut, then the money’s there to keep JobKeeper going in the middle of a recession. The Senate can stop the JobKeeper cuts. The Greens will move to block the cuts when Parliament resumes next week.

20.01.2022 Our democracy is broken. We need to get the influence of big money out and start restoring integrity into our parliament. Today I'll introduce my Banning Dirty ...Donations Bill to stop all political donations from industries known to have a corrupting influence on democracy: the mining, banking, gambling, alcohol, pharmacaeutical, defence, tobacco and property development industries. It will also cap all other donations from any body or individual to no more than $3,000 per three-year term.

20.01.2022 The Covid crisis has exposed the cracks in our aged care system and the human cost of privatisation, casualisation, high nurse:patient ratios, and lack of accou...ntability. Today I met with the Queensland Nurses and Midwives' Union to discuss reform options and to thank their members for the critical care they continue to provide to some of Australia's most vulnerable people. The Greens have called for the Royal Commission into Aged Care to examine the impact of profit-making corporations on the quality of aged care services. We'll keep fighting for greater support, higher wages and more secure jobs in the care sector, and paid pandemic leave for carers to ensure residents and staff are protected.

18.01.2022 Crown Casino is so dodgy, they’ve been declared unfit to hold a casino licence. Yet for 20 years, the major parties have lined their pockets with $1.75 million ...in dirty donations. Today the Greens called for the Libs, Nats and Labor to donate Crown’s dirty money to gambling addiction support services and charities. Surprise surprise, they teamed up to gag debate and refused to let the parliament even vote on this important issue See more

15.01.2022 In his first days as President-elect, Joe Biden has acknowledged we need to act in this decade on the climate emergency, and the majority of the world leaders a...re with him but Scott Morrison won’t come to the table. Tell Scott Morrison we need to join the fight for global climate action: greens.org.au/globalclimateaction

14.01.2022 The Senate passed the Greens bill for a federal corruption watchdog 1 year ago today, so why are we still waiting? Maybe its because the Morrison government is up to its eyeballs in dirty donations, deals for mates, and pork-barrelling? Times up Morrison. Lets get this done.

We don't have the mega-bucks of ...the old parties, our movement is grassroots and people-powered! 13.01.2022 Srsly, this environmental lawyer cannot handle any more mansplaining about how tough our environmental laws are those same laws that dont require the climat...e impacts of coal mines to be assessed. This morning the Senate debated my bill to keep Galilee coal in the ground no Adani, no Clive Palmer, no new thermal coal. Instead we can ensure long-term jobs for those communities which safeguard our climate. Both the government and Labor oppose my bill. Yet more sad proof of both big political parties standing with multinational coal corporates, not communities. Donations work: to put corporate donor interests ahead of people and nature!

12.01.2022 The Australian Greens are proud to launch our COVID-19 economic recovery plan, Invest to Recover. Now is the time for bold government investment to create hundr...eds of thousands of jobs, build the foundations of a cleaner, fairer economy and leave no one behind. Young people have been smashed by the economic fallout of COVID-19. Thats why our plan includes the Next Gen Guarantee to get young people back on track and set you up for the future

12.01.2022 Weve wrapped up the first two sittings of parliament for 2020, from the bushfire crisis to #sportsrorts, its been a busy fortnight! Heres a snapshot of how your Senators voted.

11.01.2022 "Adani cannot be trusted to protect our air, water and wildlife from damage caused by the construction of their mine, and certainly not to protect World Heritag...e sites like our Great Barrier Reef. To continue to let Adani operate in Australia with their shocking track record of not complying with the laws that protect our air, water and wildlife, is grossly irresponsible." -- Ariane Wilkinson, Senior Lawyer EJA representing Mackay Conservation Group. 10.01.2022 Here's Senator Richard Di Natale with a message for all our members and supporters: "Nothing our movement does would be possible without you. Thank you for the support you have given me on this journey."

09.01.2022 In the middle of a pandemic, renewables are growing their share of the grid

09.01.2022 Theres only 1 job for every 15 unemployed Queenslanders on JobSeeker, but the Government is considering winding back JobSeeker rates during the next sitting of... Parliament. This could mean pushing people back down to abysmally low and inappropriate payments that dont allow them to live safely and with dignity. No one should be left without proper support, especially during an unemployment crisis. Thats why Im joining the thousands of people taking action today, calling on the Federal Government to permanently raise the rates of our income support payments. Email the PM: https://thegreens.good.do/raisetherate/email-PM/ Call the Treasurer, Josh Frydenberg: https://thegreens.good.do/raisetherate/call-the-Treasurer/ Its time. #RaiseTheRate for good.

08.01.2022 Look at these two! Say hi to your amazing Greens QLD MPs for the next four years - Amy MacMahon, Greens for South Brisbane and Michael Berkman - Greens MP for Maiwar

08.01.2022 Disability Support Pensioners are currently on the #CashlessDebitCard in Ceduna, the East Kimberley, and the Goldfields. We also know that almost half of peopl...e on JobSeeker are sick or disabled and unable to access DSP. These people in the Bundaberg and Hervey Bay trial site are stuck on the cashless card.

08.01.2022 Join Senators Rachel Siewert and Jordon Steele-John online over Zoom to talk about the next steps in our campaign to ensure that people on DSP and the carers payment can access COVID-19 supplement. Well also be able to answer any questions you have about what the governments changes to the social safety net mean for you. Join us on Wednesday 15 April

05.01.2022 Our hearts break for the bushfire tragedy that our nation has endured this summer. Today in parliament in my first speech as Greens leader in the Senate I share...d the Greens deepest condolences for those who have lost their lives, for the wildlife killed, the homes lost, the communities shattered - and the heroism of our heroic firefighting and emergency services personnel. But the best way to honour those losses is for parliament to plan a transition away from the fossil fuels that are turbo-charging these fires. Communities are anxious and they are rightfully angry. They are struggling with what the climate emergency means for them and their future, and they are feeling despair at the government's inaction and lack of compassion. We need urgent climate action now to reduce emissions and create a clean, job-rich future that keeps our loved ones and nature safe. And we Greens will fight to make sure that donations from Big Coal, Oil and Gas stop getting in the way.

04.01.2022 The Government saying that tapering down someone's income support payment will incentivise them to find work is contrary to evidence. The problem is there is n...ot enough jobs available. There are 1.3 million people looking for work and only 129,000 vacancies. It's time for the Government to simply ensure that income support payments are above the poverty line.

03.01.2022 For anyone out there who feel they have been left behind or disadvantaged by the Governments response to and support packages put in place due to Covid-19 pand...emic. Make a post and describe how it is impacting you and put it on your profile page etc. Whatever social media platform you use, make sure to use the hashtag #StoriesForScotty to make your voice heard.

02.01.2022 The governments response to the pandemic has supercharged gender inequality. 55% of job losses resulting from the pandemic have been women. Women who r...etained their jobs have experienced a significantly bigger decrease in work hours compared to men. Women are particularly vulnerable to housing insecurity, and remain at greater risk of domestic and family violence. Join me and Adam Bandt tonight as we talk about how equality needs to be at the heart of our recovery plan, and also what the plan means for Queensland. Make sure to put any questions you have in the comments here, and come join in the conversation later tonight!

02.01.2022 This inquiry was a sham cooked-up by science-denying LNP senators to attack climate change. Maybe instead of wasting time and taxpayer resources on an anti-science Senate inquiry, this Government could actually get on with tackling global warming and save our Reef!

01.01.2022 Many Government MPs have admitted they could not live on $40 a day, but won't commit to raising the rate of JobSeeker above the poverty line. Send off a pre-wr...itten email asking your Liberal representatives to publically join the community campaign to permanently raise the rate of JobSeeker https://thegreens.good.do/raisetherate/email-MP/
