24.01.2022 Are you building your business? Do you have a technician advancement plan? Do you have a trainee learning plan?... Do you want consistency from your technicians? Do you have pest management procedures that you expect your technicians to comply with? Make sure you discuss these questions with your partners or team members. Just some things you may wish to consider. Thats if you strive to be a better Pest Management Company.

22.01.2022 Wow, Milestone achievement today. Delivered our first ever Live Webinar Training Session. 6 and a half hours. Thank you to all the attendees for your patience.... 21.01.2022 We are working hard to ensure that we can still maintain compliance and validity of training and assessment while trying to develop our Live online training. With the recent changes in the Pest Management training packages it is critical to make sure that what we do not only meets, but exceeds the minimum competency requirements. We will still continue to have a big focus on Face to Face training, as it is a vital learning method.

20.01.2022 Congratulations to Quinten for achieving Star student status. Locating and securing a beautiful queen during our Timber Pest Workshop.

20.01.2022 Our group of Timber Pest students finding out the pitfalls and traps associated with inspections. Thanks very much to one of NQs passionate pesties for sharing their knowledge of Timber Pests with this budding group of techs during a part of their prac training.

20.01.2022 Next week sees Bruce delivering some private live Web based sessions to some technicians looking for some refresher and guidance. Normally we only do this Face to Face, but this year has seen us have to review the way we do things in certain areas. First draft at setting up the Urban Pest Management web studio.

19.01.2022 Hi Guys, This was recently release by PMANZ, the Pest Managers Association of New Zealand. I would encourage you to read this and think about your actions..... PMANZ have issued the following statement below, I would suggest you Google and download Draft Guidelines for Post Cleaning Validation of Buildings Contaminated with SARS-Cov-2 (Covid-19), dated 8 April 2020, issued by Indoor Air Quality Association Australia PMANZ position statement of Covid-19 disinfection PMANZ is aware that many members have begun to offer disinfection services for Covid-19, and we recommend you proceed with extreme caution. Before offering these services, you should: Check that the technicians carrying out these treatments are fully trained to do so Check your insurance covers you to offer this service Use disinfectants in accordance with the label instructions Have your contract/terms and conditions checked with a legal advisor Read the advice on the Government and Cleaning Company website The PMANZ Technical team are not able to give specific advice on disinfection services for Covid-19 as this is out of our area of expertise. Disinfecting following a pest infestation and for a virus have important differences. We strongly recommend speaking to your disinfectant supplier before you offer this service. As PMANZ is unable to verify members ability to carry out Covid-19 disinfection services, we have taken the decision to not endorse this service. Many pest management companies have access to specialised equipment used to control pests that are also regularly used in the application of disinfectants. If called on, we could support the Government with disinfection and hygiene maintenance during the Covid-19 pandemic. Above all, do not try to be something youre not. If youre unsure about offering these services, dont do it. Offering services and making claims that you cant deliver on is bad for your business and the whole sector. Worse, during this pandemic, you could be seen as profiteering, which could have legal and reputational costs.

15.01.2022 As a Nationally accredited Registered Training Organisation, We have just received notification from the governing body for RTOs. What does this mean for you or your business? -increased learning requirements... -increases assessment requirements No later than March 2021. 08.01.2022 Important update for Fumigation Licencing in NSW Here is an excerpt from the NSW Govt Gazette May 15th. Unit CPPPMT3006 no longer required for NSW Fumigation Licence. PESTICIDES REGULATION 2017... QUALIFICATION DETERMINATION NOTICE Notice issued by the Environment Protection Authority NSW Pesticides Regulation 2017 Clause 19(9) Background The NSW Pesticides Regulation 2017 (the Regulation) provides for specification of the qualification that a person is required to hold in order to obtain a fumigator licence, which authorises fumigation work as defined in clause 6(1)(e) of the Regulation. Clause 19(7) of the Regulation specifies an acceptable standard of competency for fumigation work to be that set out in relation to that work in the National Standard for Licensing Pest Management Technicians, or any other standard of competency the Environment Protection Authority considers equivalent, or any alternative qualification for a particular kind of licence the Authority specifies in a notice made in accordance with clause 19(9)(a) of the Regulation. The National Standard for Licensing Pest Management Technicians (the former National Standard) published by the EnHealth Council in 1999 was superseded in April 2018 when the Australian Agriculture ministers agreed to a new national model for minimum training requirements for fee-for-service (licenced) pesticide users. Accordingly, the fumigation training specified in the former National Standard is no longer current and alternative training must be approved. Approved alternative qualification for a fumigator licence 1. for the purposes of clause 19(9)(a) of the Pesticides Regulation 2017, a qualification issued in accordance with the Australian Qualifications Framework showing achievement of either of the following units of competency from the CPP Property Services Training Package is approved for the granting of a fumigator licence: a) CPPUPM3011 - Manage organisms by applying fumigants to commodities and environments alone, or b) the superseded unit CPPPMT3011 - Manage organisms by applying fumigants to commodities and environments alone. 2. successful completion of previous fumigation training delivered in accordance with clause 19(7) of the Pesticides Regulation 2017 continues to be approved for the granting of a fumigator licence. Commencement This approval takes effect on publication in the NSW Government Gazette. See more

05.01.2022 Apologies to those that have been trying to access our website over the last couple of days. We had some hacking issues. Everything is back on track now. Thanks for your patience.

03.01.2022 This week sees Bruce working with some fumigators towards their DAWE Methyl bromide accreditation. Helping the industry try to keep our shores safe. Unfortunately the southerners couldnt get up here, so a couple less in class this week. Bonus is more one on one time for the practical components.

03.01.2022 https://protrain.com.au/watch-out-for-khapra-beetle/ This is worth a read if you haven't already seen it.

01.01.2022 Just a thought to ponder. I often get asked during our training workshops "Bruce, what products do you recommend?, what works best?" I really feel that a good pest management technician needs to put the majority of their focus on improving their key skills. A truly skilled pest manager can achieve great pest management by using their well developed and refined methodologies.... Pesticides should not be the automatic go to, but should simply be seen as an option in our tool kit. We should become less reliant on pesticides and more reliant on correcting conditions and pesticide free solutions. See more
