17.01.2022 RURAL AID ROAD TRAINS DELIVERED HAY TO QUEENSLAND FARMERS THIS WEEK Rural Aid delivered 460 large bales of hay on the back of 12 trailers to 19 drought affected Queensland farming families, on 21 and 25 September 2020. The Queensland hay drops, made possible thanks to the generosity of everyday Aussie donors, will assist local cattle and sheep farming families in Eromanga, Windorah, Quilpie and Jundah west of Charleville struggling to feed livestock. ... Rural Aid CEO John Warlters said this generous donation of 298 tonnes of hay will go a long way to help make life a little easier for the farmers and their families in this drought impacted area. Our farmers are going through challenging times, John said. They’ve been impacted by one of the longest droughts in recent history, followed by fires that have devasted the land, people, livestock and homes. Now they are dealing with the impact of current restrictions. It may not be obvious to all but for many Queensland farmers, still in drought, the impact is very real.

08.01.2022 FIREARMS THEFT ROCKY - Rockhampton detectives have charged four people following two alleged burglaries earlier this year targeting firearms on rural properties. The arrests form part of Operation Sierra Decompress, with investigations ongoing into a number of matters relating to stolen firearms in the greater Rockhampton area over the past six months. Detectives will also allege that in a linked incident on May 27 an attempt was made to steal a gun safe from a property on Bucholz Road at Kabra, however the offenders fled empty handed. Ongoing investigations led to a search warrant being carried out on September 28 at a residence in Thangool. 04.01.2022 Jobs on the way with Mining Leases granted for Olive Downs Coking Coal Project The Queensland Government has approved Mining Leases for the Olive Downs Coking Coal Project (Olive Downs) in Central Queensland, paving the way for new jobs and business opportunities in Central Queensland. ... The granting of the Mining Leases follows approvals from the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act in early 2020, and the grant of the Environmental Authority (EA) by the Queensland Government in 2019. Pembroke Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Barry Tudor thanked Minister Anthony Lynham for the Mining Lease approvals, saying they were the final approval hurdle to commence the first stage of the project. Olive Downs will create over 1,000 new jobs in the region as the project is developed to produce up to a forecast 15Mtpa of saleable coal over its 79 year mine life. We are extremely pleased to have been granted the Mining Leases, having consulted extensively with the local community over the past four years. In addition to our commitment to the environment, we have focused on creating local jobs and proactively engaged with all stakeholders, including establishing a strong relationship with Barada Barna as the traditional owners of the land, with whom we have an Indigenous Land Use Agreement and Cultural Heritage Management Plan in place, Mr Tudor said.
