24.01.2022 Australia Day is a day for celebrating all that is great about our country. In Port Phillip it began with a remembrance service at dawn (in the rain) in Alfred Square and continued with a citizenship ceremony for 30 new conferees at the St Kilda Town Hall. Enjoy the day no matter how you choose to celebrate.
16.01.2022 Back in August 2020 City Of Port Phillip made the difficult decision to cancel the St Kilda Festival. We did so because at the time we felt we had no way of knowing what the COVID situation would be like come the 2nd week of February 2021. At times it looked like we made the wrong call, and that an event of some description could have gone ahead. However today’s announcement of a 5 day lockdown on what would have been St Kilda Festival weekend shows just how quickly things can change. The money that was to be spent on the St Kilda Festival is being used to support local business and artists and another round of grants will be allocated at this coming Wednesday nights Council meeting. Stay safe and support your local businesses, and help them get through the next 5 days.
10.01.2022 Article on eight of the best markets in Australia for handmade goods and it includes our own St Kilda Esplanade Market.
01.01.2022 Some of the really old MMBW maps of St Kilda indicate that a creek or drain used to run right under where St. Kilda Town Hall is today. Not many would know that the drain is still there and that St. Kilda Town Hall was built right over the top of it. This is what it looks like today as the old brick drain runs through the middle of the basement of St. Kilda Town Hall.
01.01.2022 Spotted pre-dawn this morning on South Beach. Not too sure why it is there or for how long but it certainly stood out.
