24.01.2022 Great Northern Clean Up this morning at Taylors Point, Trinity Beach was a roaring success! We had approx 60 people show up to this beautiful area to help clean it up, as it is used and abused by some thoughtless numbskulls every week. This land is privately owned, but the owners allowed us to stage today’s clean up here, because it is such a loved part of the northern beaches. It just drives me mad that some people choose to ruin it for everyone else with their selfish and t...houghtless behavior. Thanks so much to all the locals that came out today to make this one of the most successful clean ups to date! There were sheets of corrugated iron everywhere, burnt out cars, broken toilets, car seats, broken bottles and everything else you could possibly imagine down there! Enjoy the afternoon and I hope to see you all tomorrow, cheering on the athletes in the Cairns Ironman. #GreatNorthernCleanUp #CRC #TaylorsPoint #TrinityBeach
22.01.2022 Good morning everyone, A fair few photos below. The first are the latest pics from the new Earl Hill upgrades. This new track will be officially open in about two weeks I am told. How good is it looking?! Then, the next are from the current track that QPWS take care of. Their team have done a fantastic job installing all these bench seats up there at great viewing areas. They weighed 90kgs each and had to be hauled up their by hand! They’ve also installed some temporary direc...tional signs, but the permanent ones will be in soon. Lastly, for everyone that uses the Kewarra Beach swimming area, you’ll be over the moon to see how close we are to opening the new toilet block there. I have attached a quick summary below, but these guys have worked their butts off to be able to open these only a few days behind schedule, after all the weather delays and timing issues: Report Summary Toilet Practical Completion CCTV installed Ergon to connect power Friday 3 July. Ergon delayed connected that was scheduled for Monday 29 June. Minor defects to rectify prior to opening Have a ripper weekend and be nice to one another! #EarlHill #TrinityPark #KewarraBeach #LifeIsGood
22.01.2022 Hi everyone, I promised to get this report out to you all, as soon as I received it. It had to go up before Council today, so this is my first opportunity to share it with you. The whole report is too large for me to copy and paste, so I’m putting a link up. As you go through the report, you will clearly read and see photographic evidence as to why this magnificent melaleuca tree had to come down. I know most of you already understand this, but I promised others that I’d put ...it up, so here it is: https://www.cairns.qld.gov.au//Clause-No-1_Ordinary-Meetin I hope you all enjoy the rest of your week. #PalmCoveMelaleucaTree #CRC #FullReport

19.01.2022 Another big weekend, almost over. Yesterday, I was the MC for the Marlin Coast Meals on Wheels 30th Anniversary. What a great luncheon at the Trinity Beach Sports Club. The Sports Club actually surprised Meals On Wheels with a $1,000 donation to this great organization! I just love seeing local clubs supporting each other, especially in times like we’re in currently. Today, I got my re-qualification as a Chainsaw Operator at the SES, while my wife got her re-qualification of ...Bronze Medallion at the Surf Club, before taking the kids to the Grandparents place where my 6 year old smashed her adult tooth completely in half, while swimming in the pool! Arghh...she’s totally ok though. Now it’s time to start settling in for an afternoon of good times with all the extended family before the NRL Grand Final tonight. Hope you all had a ripper weekend and catch you out and about soon #MarlinCoastMealsOnWheels #SES #EllisBeachSLSC #LifeIsGood
19.01.2022 Not a bad way to start the day! Took a couple of my kids and two of my nephews up to Port Douglas to watch Cara, the Sea Turtle be released back into the wild, then I got to help judge the sand castle competition. What an awesome day it was - perfect weather and a top crowd. Gotta love living up here in Paradise! ... #PortDouglas #TurtleRehab #LovingLife
18.01.2022 Have your say! The new Cairns Survey is out and we want/need your input. Our last one was in 2016 and we had over 6,000 people let us know their thoughts and opinions. We really want to hear from you, so please share this around and let us know your opinions about this place we all choose to call home. Also known as Paradise!... #OurCairnsSurvey #HaveYourSay
17.01.2022 My office for a few meetings early this morning. Not bad hey? One more meeting in Paradise before heading into to the town office for a couple more. #HappyFriday #LoveOurBackyard
16.01.2022 Happy Father’s Day to all you Legends out there! I’ve been down at Ellis Beach for the ‘Great Northern Clean Up’. What a beautiful day it is today. I’m off to The Palm Cove Markets now - looking forward to seeing you there! #GreatNorthernCleanUp #CRC #EllisBeach
15.01.2022 How good is our backyard?! This Sunday we have another installment of the Cairns Ironman (set later in the year this time because of COVID). If you’re around, get out and support it - it’ll be a bit warmer for the athletes this year and they’ll need all the help they can get, I’m sure. Welcome to all the out of towners here atm and make sure you go and check out some of the places mentioned in this video.... #Cairns #LoveWhereYouLive #Ironman
14.01.2022 Hi guys, I’ve had a lot of you ask questions about this sort of thing, so I thought I’d share this info with you. I hope you’re able to make one of these workshops. #CRC #CHAS #qcoast2100
13.01.2022 These legends were training hard this morning, up at the Smithfield Park Mountain Biking Tracks, with the new ‘Mule’. It’s a stretcher with a large wheel that attaches in the middle. I was on Daddy Duties, but my wife and some others from the Buchan Point ‘Unit of the Year’ were sweating it out, dragging the Mule and an 80kg mannequin all over the show! Let’s hope we never have to use it for real, but if we do you can rest assured that we’ve been training hard, so that everyt...hing will run smoothly and go easy should the need arise. #SES #SaturdayTraining #NoThatIsNotMeInTheYellowSuit
12.01.2022 Good morning all, Just wanted to give everyone a (very early) heads up about a revegetation project coming up at the end of next month at Kewarra Beach. One of my goals for this term of Council was to get more of these projects rolling in Div 9. Council’s Green Space, Our Place team do a fantastic job all over our region, along with hundreds and hundreds of dedicated volunteers. Our foreshores up here need all the help they can get, so continuing this project at Kewarra is a... huge deal! If you can make it to either date (or both), please get in touch by following the details in the pictures below and I’ll see you down there on both dates. #GreenSpaceOurPlace #KewarraBeach #Reveg
11.01.2022 Hi all, Consultation has just begun regarding this project, so if you’d like to have a say about anything here, please follow the link and let Council know what your thoughts are. This street connection is planned to begin works next year at some stage. It was originally touted to be connected in 2035, but has been brought forward to help with connectivity between the suburbs and to ease the burden on traffic all trying to get to the highway through the one access Kewarra Bea...ch currently has. #CRC #StreetConnection #HaveYourSay
10.01.2022 Council's hosting a free community BBQ at Coastwatcher Skate Park, Trinity Beach today, 2 October from 1.30 - 3.30pm. It's all to promote the Our Cairns Youth Survey - pop down for a snag and a say! If you can't get there you can still do the survey at www.cairns.qld.gov.au/ourcairns - it closes October 16. I hope to see you down there! #OurCairnsSurvey #HaveYourSay
09.01.2022 A busy few days...as usual! Lol... Us Councillors had a tour of the Behana Water Treatment Plant last week to see the great work the guys do down there, before enjoying a some great times with mates at Palm Cove. I attended the Tourism Palm Cove Networking evening and got to share some of the exciting things coming up soon... The First Surf Lifesaving Carnival for the year started yesterday at Palm Cove and continues today. I got to watch the Mighty Centrals Doggies win both ...Grades of Footy yesterday, before losing in the second round of Doubles at the Clifton Beach Tennis Club Championships. D’oh! My 6 year old had her tennis lessons this weekend too and it won’t be much longer until she can beat her old man too, by the looks of things. The weather has really turned it on this weekend for us and there’s nowhere I’d rather be for winter, than here in Paradise! #BusyWeeks #WinterInTheTropics
07.01.2022 Well...it’s finally open! The new trailhead for Earl Hill. Council just opened it today. Evan from Contour Works completed the project and what a great job he and his team have done! #EarlHill #NewTrailhead #CRC
06.01.2022 G’day folks, I’ve got some great news for folks in Kewarra Beach. Cottesloe Drive will finally be getting its footpath extended, all the way down to its end! This is a large project and originally didn’t make it into this year’s budget, but thanks to some great work from Council Officers, this will start happening in just over a week from now. I trust this is great news for everyone that uses this road and I’ll... continue to fight for other footpath projects that are desperately needed in a few other locations around our community. #FootpathWorks #KewarraBeach #CRC
05.01.2022 Ellis Beach Clean Up - part of the Great Northern Clean Up. Hope to see you there! #EllisBeach #GreatNorthernCleanUp
05.01.2022 What a busy few days it’s been! Just some highlights: Started off with the launch for the Great Barrier Reef Masters Games on Thursday, then a big walk with my eldest all up and around Earl Hill on Friday. Friday night was a bit of a late one, solving all the problems of the world with a close mate that I hadn’t seen in ages, before taking the family out for pancakes on Sat morning, with a trip to TimeZone in the city directly afterwards! The kids loved it. Sat arvo was the ...President’s Lunch at Centrals and our first game of the season (Ressies won by 2, but the A’s had a tougher time of it), but what a great day for Footy. Today was a tad slower, been shopping with the kids and cooking a roast right now after watching Carlton go down in a bloody tight game - arghh!! Going to enjoy a quiet Sunday evening with the family before getting back into it tomoz! Hope You all enjoyed your long weekend and catch you soon. #LifeIsGood #WinterInParadise #CairnsQLD
04.01.2022 It’s been another busy week, with lots going on. I got to meet some absolute legends this morning in the form of John Millman, world number 1 Ash Barty and JP Smith for the official opening of the new roof at the International Tennis Centre. The Missus and I had a great evening last night at a Christmas in July party and before that, Council got to do some media on the beach wheelchairs we rolled out at the northern beaches. There’s plenty more happening, but I’m chuffed as ...to have got have some fun today with some tennis greats and thought I’d share the good times with y’all. #CITC #CRC #TennisLegends
04.01.2022 Don’t forget about tomorrow afternoon’s Wheelchair Come and Try Day at Clifton Beach Tennis Club. Starts at 4pm - See you there! #CliftonBeachTennisClub #ComeAndTry
03.01.2022 Another long week is over & another cohort of Smithfield State High students are out of school forever, as they graduated this morning. It was a different style graduation, due to COVID, but plenty of smiles and tears were still there, as per the norm. The school was able to get a street closure and everyone poured out onto O’Brien Rd. My eldest is in his final year next year and I can’t believe I am old enough to have a kid that’s a senior in High School! Arghh... My younges...t boy graduates Year 6 in a couple of weeks and will be in High School next year too (that’ll mean I’ll have three boys at High School)! Christmas party season is upon us too, and I spent this afternoon working the entry station at Council’s annual Xmas Party. It was at Cannon Park this year and it’s great to see so many people having a good time after such a stressful year. Have a great weekend everyone and congratulations to seniors everywhere that have finally finished High School - what a great achievement! #SSHS #Graduation #AlmostXmas
03.01.2022 The new extension to the footpath on Cottesloe Drive, Kewarra Beach, is almost completed. I went for a walk there yesterday and spoke with some residents living along there and they are so appreciative to finally be getting this project done. This was a very much needed pathway and it wasn’t in this year’s budget. We were fortunate enough to get Federal funding to deliver this - so thank you to all the Council Officers involved in making this happen & to the Federal Government for seeing the huge benefits for the community here. I will keep fighting for other much needed footpaths around our areas, but just thought I’d share this as an early Christmas present! #CottesloeDriveFootpath #KewarraBeach #CommunitySafety
03.01.2022 Looking for something to do today? Come on down to the Palm Cove Markets & I’ll see you here! #PalmCoveMarkets #Rotary
03.01.2022 G’day everyone, We need to spread the word to try and help those in need please. At the moment, the Cairns Red Cross can’t take whole blood, as they can’t get it onto a plane in time to get it out of here and where it’s needed (because of the current virus situation!). But, they can still take plasma - and require it urgently! If you are able to donate, please reach out to these guys and become what they like to call, a Bloody Legend! They are in need of 500 donations this mo...nths and 1,000 next month - we can do this. #RedCross #BeABloodyLegend #DonatePlasma
01.01.2022 Amazing work done by the Trinity Anglican School, Kewarra Beach Campus community in designing and funding COLA (Covered Outdoor Learning Area), a great new undercover area, which was officially opened this morning. I was honored to be asked there, along with my great friend & colleague, Linda Cooper - LNP for Barron River and many others. Awesome speech Bailey. Both you and Poppy are brilliant ambassadors of TAS .... #TAS #KewarraBeach #COLA #OfficialOpening
