21.01.2022 This afternoon I had the opportunity to walk through the new Ivanhoe Library hub & it is impressive. They have done a fabulous job & all the Banyule community should be excited for its opening day. There’s a children’s library room with wet area for arts & crafts, climbing equipment, cubby nook, art galleries, a theatre, cafe, maternal child services, quiet study areas, meeting rooms, men’s, women’s & gender neutral toilets, pram parking area & a lift so no more climbing 3 levels for storytime, views of the city & even a bee keeper area that will house 20,000 bees. A new state of the art kitchen has also been built to make catering at the Ivanhoe centre (attached) world class. Opening in late Jan

21.01.2022 It's official, I am now Cr Fiona Mitsinikos. I'm really excited about being elected into Council & look forward to meeting residents over the next 4 years as we work together to make Banyule a great place for us all to live. I would like to thank the Hawdon residents who put their trust in me to vote me in. Last night we went live as we elected our new Mayor - Rick Garotti & our Deputy Mayor Tom Melican. Both men bring with them a wealth of Council knowledge and I look for...ward to learning from our whole Councillor team of 9 and all the amazing support people we have. Stay safe & enjoy the sunny days ahead.

19.01.2022 I wanted to share & thank so many fabulous local ladies. Every year I hold a Share the Dignity Afternoon tea where we create bags full of essential items that then get given at Xmas to women who have fled domestic violence or homelessness. This year meant we weren’t allowed to have 20+ women over packing, talking & eating so instead my young daughter took on that role with me!! This photo is what it looks like to help 59 women......45 ladies bags, 10 teen bags & 4 new Mums bags. Thank you to all the amazing women who took part, donated full bags, donated handbags or donated goods. You are all amazing & helped brighten the lives of 59 ladies.

17.01.2022 It might look different this year but it’s just Carols by Candlelight from the comfort of your home. There’s a lot of work going into this event, so don’t miss it!

07.01.2022 Happy Christmas everyone, I love the craziness of Christmas, the baking yummy goodies to give to friends & I especially love all the amazing Christmas displays that people create in front gardens around Banyule. We take drives in convoy with friends as we look in awe at how much effort residents put into their displays & listen as kids squeal in delight. Wishing you all a safe, happy & memorable day with your loved ones. Ps don’t forget your Xmas jumpers this year as Melb has a cold 20 deg Xmas day!

03.01.2022 We live in such a beautiful part of Victoria & have wildlife all around us. This afternoon my son came across an injured brush tail possum during the day on the ground.......it wasn’t in a good way but it was still breathing. We called Kim Davis from Banksia Wildlife who helped put it in a box so we could take it to a vet to be looked at. At the 1st sighting of injured wildlife please call Wildlife Victoria on 8400 7300. Let’s not leave wildlife to suffer. Any vet will take wildlife free of charge to help them.
