01.01.2022 This year has seen such devastation over the world. The devastating fires this time last year, saw a sad outlook for nature and our wildlife. But brought out t...he best in humanity. Here in Wanneroo, saw us escape with minimal damage, and only the loss of one house, and a petrol station. For the people of Western Australia we certainly can say we are experiencing a "lucky break in time!" By March the pandemic took hold around the world with little time jumping from one disaster to another. but we in Western Australia managed to find ourselves, the envy of the world, with only one quickly controlled community case, affecting such a small number of people. Then, with only one hard compliance lockdown and good leadership the boarders were closed, allowing the demise of a community wide spread of covid 19 in our state over 2020. Over the past few years, we have witnessed the end of the landline phone. Introduction of 5g, the technology of NBN the Smart TV, smart mobile phone, the introduction of the air fryer and the innovation of the electric car. The growth of our city here in Wanneroo has gained a flyover and underpass within the city. A new major road network, the extention of the freeway and railway means the people can move more freely and easily. New suburbs which take in account nature and our ability not to distroy to create. The introduction of refunding 10c for drinking bottles and so much more. We are just about to witness the phase out of the car petrol engine, better landfill waste reduction and an efficient waste management roll out, the introduction of third bin in Wanneroo. More efforts to assist the reduction of climate change, more community facilities, and may-be, the beginning of the demise in the 9-5 working week, even the first flights to mars? The world has changed and we all are a part of how we shape the future. Our mindset is being stretched and we must embrace it, not fear it. We must learn to learn, to gain confidence, and improve our knowledge base and skills. So we can improve our world. All humanity can move forward alongside nature and our animals to create a more inclusive world for us all. We are all part of it, there is no escape. Let's make 2021 the best year for humanity and nature to combine. Creating a future we can be proud of, and all live in peace and harmony. May l wish you all a merry Christmas and prosperous Year ahead. Love from Jacqui and Tony Huntley
