25.01.2022 Our CEO jumped in the ute with Project Manager, Mary today, to check out progress on the Latrobe to Ambleside section of the Coastal Pathway. Despite having to deal with a lot more mud than expected, we’re on track to have the pathway itself finished by the end of the year, and signage and furniture installed in January.

25.01.2022 Do you have a project you think could benefit our community? Why not submit a Project Concept Brief to our Regional Economic Development Steering Group (REDSG)? The REDSG is made up of key industry, community and government leaders and will determine a register of projects that will be supported by Cradle Coast Authoritys Member Councils to seek State and Federal Government funding through our Regional Investment Framework. This list of regionally significant projects is reviewed and updated quarterly with the purpose being for our region to speak with one voice in support of projects that will drive positive economic change. The REDSG will assess proposals against criteria developed from the Regional Futures Plan, you can find out more here https://www.cradlecoast.com/regional-investment-framework/

24.01.2022 How impressive is this White-bellied Sea-Eagle nest?! We tweaked our Coastal Pathway construction schedule, so as not to disturb the eaglets before they leave the nest. We’re so lucky to share the pathway with so many magnificent creatures!

23.01.2022 A happy local sent this in this morning. People are loving the Coastal Pathway upgrades between Ambleside and Latrobe!

22.01.2022 A big thank you to David Gough for sharing his culture with us at panatana today. It was a really special day out. As weve said before, Tasmanian Aboriginal people have been custodians of the Cradle Coast region for far longer than Cradle Coast Authority, and they continue to make a unique and lasting contribution.

22.01.2022 We all know Tasmania, in particular our region is a world leading food bowl with some of the countrys finest produce coming from right here on our doorstep. The Cradle Coast region alone has over 1400 registered food and agri-food businesses. As part of our economic development weve partnered with Seedlab Tasmania to support start-up agritourism, food and drink businesses in our region to help make their dreams come to life. Round two of Seedlabs Germinate Bootcamp is open now, applications close at 5pm on Monday 21st September. To find out more visit the Seedlab website here -https://www.seedlabtasmania.com.au/germinate/

21.01.2022 Do you feel the younger generation would be more likely to stay in our region if we could improve the liveability and attractiveness of the Cradle Coast as a fantastic place to live, work, study and invest? The Cradle Coast Regional Futures Plan (RFP) acknowledges the challenge of an aging workforce and the subsequent economic and social impact this has on our region. Two of the five RFP Working Groups are working on this challenge specifically; Choose Cradle Coast and the Ar...ts and Culture Working Group. The people involved in these Working Groups are from the private and public sector and agree that working collaboratively on certain issues is a better way to achieve good regional outcomes. We look forward to keeping you updated on the projects these Working Groups are pursuing across the coast to make our region an even better place to live, work, study and invest.

16.01.2022 LOCAL GOVERNMENT AUSTRALIAN SCHOOL-BASED APPRENTICESHIP PROGRAM Our Member Councils are looking to provide more jobs for young people through a project being managed by Cradle Coast Authority (CCA) and supported by the Tasmanian Government. This project builds on other work undertaken by CCA and its Member Councils which involved seventy jobseekers participating in employability skills training and being provided work experience opportunities with our Member Councils.... Both projects serve a dual role for CCA, firstly, these projects align closely with our Regional Futures Plan, which is all about creating more jobs and better jobs. They also allow us and Councils to walk the talk and model best practice in terms of helping people gain meaningful employment. Recently we advertised six School-based Apprenticeship opportunities across our Member Councils for 2021. We look forward to keeping you updated with the progress of this initiative through 2021.

15.01.2022 "Not only is it the right thing to do, but healthy little penguin populations also contribute to our region's tourism appeal and our 'clean, green' image." - CCA CEO, Daryl Connelly

15.01.2022 Back in 2018, CCA facilitated the development of the Cradle Coast Regional Futures Plan, on behalf of our Member Councils and the broader region. The Futures Plan was fully endorsed by all nine Member Councils and forms the basis of a collaborative, joined-up approach to economic development activities in the region. The Futures Plan was created in response to some of the economic and social challenges our region faces and establishes a regional approach to help guide collec...tive action, aimed at improving living standards in the region by boosting growth and fostering a more resilient economy with a sharp focus on creating not only more jobs but better jobs. The Futures Plan approach provides a crucial platform for working collaboratively across sectors, organisations and boundaries. To find out more visit our website here - https://www.cradlecoast.com/

12.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE - CRADLE COAST AUTHORITY WELCOMES EXPERIENCED AQUACULTURE LEADER Cradle Coast Authority (CCA) has appointed a new manager to oversee Natural Resource Management in the region. He has worked in Scotland, Ireland, Norway, South Australia and New Zealand, and moved to Tasmania with his w...ife and family in 2012, taking on a role with Petuna. Mr Thomson holds a Master of Science and has represented the aquaculture industry in a number of international forums. CCA CEO, Daryl Connelly said Mr Thomsons extensive global private sector experience brought something new to the CCA team. Greater integration between our natural resource management and economic development work is a key feature of the strategic direction we set last year. Mikes skills and experience are perfectly aligned with that and stood him apart in a strong field of applicants from across the country. Mr Thomson and his family live at Port Sorell. We are lucky to live and work in such a bountiful place. I have been offered the most wonderful opportunity to learn more about the unique and beautiful land and seascapes of the Cradle Coast region, and I look forward to working with the CCA team, our partners and the wider community on how best to manage these precious resources said Mr Thomson. Mr Connelly acknowledged the contribution of Spencer Gibbs, who has done a great job in the role since 2017 and is taking on another important role within the team. 10.01.2022 It was a real honour having Professor John Hewson contribute his time and vast experience to a workshop with staff, our Regional Economic Development Steering Group and others today. John is particularly interested in our Futures Plan approach, and the opportunities for sustainable, community led economic development. Stay tuned, and in the meantime, check out the Reimagining Our Region articles in The Advocate newspaper and on our website!

10.01.2022 While the Regional Futures Plan is based on long-term impactful change, rather than a long list of actions with little chance of being implemented, the focus is more about planning and doing. It involves decision making, collaboration and activating existing resources and networks across many organisations. It also provides an agile and adaptive approach to implementation and review. Such an approach focuses on starting first with what matters most and then developing and implementing projects to help embed new systems and processes. It also focuses on developing relationships, trust and confidence amongst the many players. It is a new way of working better, together for the Cradle Coast Region. To find out more about all our current projects visit our websites here: https://www.cradlecoast.com/current-projects/

05.01.2022 MEDIA RELEASE - CRADLE COAST AUTHORITY TO TRACK CAT MOVEMENTS Cats are the second most popular pet in Tasmania and they play an important role in the lives of many Tasmanians. But where do our cats go when they run out of our doors in the morning? Cradle Coast Authoritys (CCA) Natural Resource Management (NRM) team, in collaboration with the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment, is starting the Cradle Coast Cat Tracker Project to uncover the movemen...ts of domestic cats in the Cradle Coast region. The project aims to discover the size of a domestic cats home range, which is the area in which the cat spends most of their time. The data will also show how many properties a cat visits, how many roads they cross and whether they spend time in adjoining bushland or if they prefer urban habitat. This research will help us understand the movements of domestic cats in semi-urban areas and will assist cat owners with making informed decisions about their cats safety and care. 04.01.2022 JOINT MEDIA RELEASE - CALLS FOR GRANTS PROGRAM Tasmanian regional economic development bodies have called on the federal government to co-invest in a grants program to increase new jobs. The proposal would see the federal government match dollar for dollar expansion plans from private enterprises that could show new employment outcomes.... The joint call comes from Regional Development Australia - Tasmania, Cradle Coast Authority, Northern Tasmania Development Corporation - NTDC and the Southern Tasmanian Council Authority. RDA Tasmania chief executive Craig Perkins said the rationale of the program was to support the economic rebuild and investment in Tasmania by providing sustainable employment opportunities, particularly for people and sectors who have had employment negatively affected by COVID-19. These grants will enable businesses to build scale and capability to be competitive in new or growing markets that create sustainable employment, Mr Perkins said. The minimum grant application would be $50,000 capped at $1 million. CCA chief executive Daryl Connelly said enterprises that can show their plans would create new jobs would be eligible to have their contribution met dollar for dollar. As well as creating new jobs in regions, the expected outcome of the proposed grant program would be increasing workers skills and knowledge, enabling local businesses to reach new customers, locally, nationally and overseas and boosting the competitiveness, productivity and profitability of regional businesses, Mr Connelly said.
