22.01.2022 A belated Happy New Year to everyone. Looks like another busy year ahead. Here's an interesting video on a micro-apartment (basically a studio apartment) refurbishment in Sydney: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=daL7TkzyW7k

21.01.2022 Almost there...

21.01.2022 Hope everyone is keeping safe and sane during these "interesting" times. No down-time for me, however - work continues apace... One project that has recently received planning approval is a development of 10 townhouses, near Coroneagh Park aged care home in Penguin. The local paper even did a story on it. Does that mean I'm famous now?

16.01.2022 Recent planning permit: This design is located in an "environmental living" zone on the outskirts of Burnie. Features a variety of "raw" materials expressed, such as stone, steel, timber + concrete. Layout is planned to give the main living, entertaining + bedroom areas the best sunlight and the best views.

16.01.2022 Just received planning approval; an exciting new eating establishment designed to emulate both the built environment and natural environment context of the Penguin town centre and the hills of the hinterland. Features an outdoor seating area protected from the worst of the weather and capturing the best sunlight and views of the street and coastline.

15.01.2022 Construction update from a site visit today

12.01.2022 Construction has commenced on the Commercial Development in Penguin. I managed to find some time between the clouds and my work schedule to snap some photos of progress. The steelwork is going up...!

10.01.2022 It's been very busy here for the last little while, and as such, little time for facebook posting. However, if you are or know a young person who might be interested in studying architecture + design, this might be for your or them. Hoping to post some of my recent work soon.

07.01.2022 This looks interesting...

06.01.2022 Some interesting things going on in Devonport at the moment.

05.01.2022 I know it has been a while since I have posted here, and I know many of you have been eagerly awaiting the my next post. The news is, things have been quite busy here lately, which is a good sign. As I organise myself I should be able to start posting some of the work that has been going on lately. In the mean time, a shipping container house that I like... https://inhabitat.com/containers-of-hope-cool-costa-rican-/

05.01.2022 From the archives: A design experiment utilising one line denoting movement through the building, defines the forms and spaces of said building.

04.01.2022 There have been serious issues with building regulation in Tasmania for over a decade. It started when the state govt handed regulation and licencing over to a private company, the Tasmanian Compliance Corporation, set up by a former ALP government minister, and agreed to by a sitting government minister at the time. The fiasco went to court, and the proponents got off lightly. The TCC was disbanded and regulation was handed back to the government. But over a decade late...r, the legacy remains, with reams of pointless, ineffective and expensive red-tape that continue to frustrate practitioners and their clients alike. Despite current government claims that they are "cutting red tape", they just aren't, as any client and potential client I have spoken with can confirm. An online petition has been established to request the state government to set up a proper review of the current building act. I humbly request that anyone reading this consider signing the petition, including clients, potential clients and interested parties. It's OK for a small sector of industry to speak, because the government can easily dismiss it. But when a greater section of the populace speaks, the government has to take notice. Thank you. https://www.gopetition.com//concerns-with-the-tasmanian-bu
