01.01.2022 BEER REVIEW Next in the series of Josh’s beer reviews is the @ballisticbeer Lager. This week we’ll delve further into the realms of independent beer, let’s look at a style that to the echelons of beer drinkers whose taste resides somewhere in the regions of dank I.P.As is considered to be a somewhat taboo word. ... Lagers, or more specifically the Ballistic lager is what we will have a look at this week. Lagers are by no means second rate beers however because of the easy subtle elegance across the senses have gained a reputation among some as a tried one tried them all '' style. Realistically there is a world of difference between a mainstream draught lager and a Chech pilsner but I will leave the nuance for you to discover. Ballistic lager sits comfortably at 4.4%ABV and can be recognized as the yellow variant in the Ballistic core range of tins. When you pour the beverage into your vessel of choice you get mild hints of soft pollen, honey and cereal on the nose sparking signs of sweetness as you continue the flavors all the way through the sip. In the glass it appears in colour as transparent cornflakes very classic for lager style beers. Also true to form is the easy-going nature of the carbonation not too aggressive from first pour to last. The bitterness is of a sweet embrace as is the soft banana and citrus notes left on your palate after the final drop. A necessary staple to Australian beer drinkers, Ballistic lager ticks all the boxes and would sit well in the fridge at home or in your hand around the BBQ. Get it fresh at Crafty Cargo Taphouse.
