13.01.2022 The G1 Blue Diamond Stakes is the premier 2YO race in Victoria and this season's renewal features a superb contest. Coolmore have the favourite Long Leaf and will be hoping to launch the colt as a potential stallion with a win in this Group One feature. The fillies Kinky Boom and Ennis Hill are serious opposition and may steal a break if the colt gets held up in running.... I've selected the speedy Ennis Hill with big race jockey Stephen Baster expertly judging her cruising speed to hold them out on the line. She races from barrier 4 and represents good value at around $8. My weekend best bet is Brave Smash in the Futurity. It's no use to anyone picking out short priced favourites so, for value punters, I've plucked out Sheidel at $20 to make it back-to-back wins in the Oakleigh Plate. What a privilege it is to witness this great mare Winx complete the hat trick in Australia's premier WFA championship race. Make sure you are ready to watch one of the great moments in Australian sport. I've witnessed many epic Cox Plates. Champions like Taj Rossi, Gunsynd, Surround, Northerly, Dulcify, Kingston Town, Bonecrusher, Octagonal, Sunline, Saintly, Might and Power, So You Think, etc.. it's a Who's Who of Australian racing. All great horses. Enjoy the day and cheer your lungs out for the great mare.
