25.01.2022 Well, this is not what we were expecting for the start of summer... fresh snow on Mt Stirling and Mt Buller! Thanks to Instagrammer @albycoight for sharing these shots of the weekend's snowfalls at Craig's Hut. Who's hoping for a white Christmas?

20.01.2022 The feeling you get when you first see the hut for the first time. (Photo taken on Monday 1st June.) Sorry the snow has pretty much all gone at Criag’s hut..

12.01.2022 If your worried about driving in snow to Craig’s hut and wondering if you should take snow chains this is the type of snow driving to expect... This is the tra...ck to Craig’s hut, there had been about 3 4wds ahead of me, maybe more. I got there about 1230pm. So unless you camp up there, or leave Mansfield at 5 or 6am, chances are someone will have gone up ahead of you. Thats not a bad thing as they get to clear all the fallen trees/branches etc haha.. As you can see in the pic you will be mostly driving on the muddy track with snow all around.. Good muddies and lower your tyre pressures.. (why lower for simple dirt roads, mostly for comfort, also better traction, your passengers will be thankful for the little extra comfort). Air compressors are cheap, get one.. Posting this pic as there has been a lot of chat on the groups about whether they need to carry snow chains in the snow. The advice in this post is for this week and weekend and to Craig’s hut only. There is a good chance most of the snow will have gone by the weekend, atleast gone off the track. You should find small patches to make a little snow creature. Don’t ever throw snow balls at your driver. And drive slowly, always keep to the left, remember circuit road is a circuit, go check out the water falls and other huts as well. Dont just go to Craigs hut then home again. Plenty to see..

10.01.2022 Buller and Stirling are OPEN to visitors, along with other classic hits like Craig’s Hut, Circuit Rd, Razorback Hut, and Howqua Hills Historic Area. PLUS the Mt... Stirling Café will be open again this weekend (opening hours: Sat and Sun 10am3pm). At this stage the Alpine National Park and parts of the adjacent State Forest will remain closed. We are incredibly grateful to all the emergency services workers and volunteers that have done such an outstanding job limiting the impact of the fire on the environment. Visitors are encouraged to check the Parks Victoria website at www.parks.vic.gov.au, Forest Fire Management Victoria website and DELWP Hume Facebook page for updates on future reopening of Parks and Forests.
