25.01.2022 As part of Shaped seed bead month at Cranberry we are going to focus today on our Hex beads. Hex beads are a 6 sided and are available in size 8,11 and Hex twist. They can be substituted for regular seed beads in many designs and create a completely different effect due to the texture of the flat sides. 14.01.2022 August is cabochon month at Cranberry. Today we are showcasing the beautiful landscape designs of Red Creek Jasper, also called Cherry Creek jasper. Red creek jasper combines softly muted shades of mustard yellow, olive green, and burnt red in patterns that resemble a breathtaking sunset or an abstract landscape painting. This is a colourful jasper was discovered in Mainland China in 2010. The miners were looking for turquoise when they found this lovely red, green, yello...w, blue-grey, and black stone instead. These beautiful pear shapes would make a stunning focal in your beaded designs. Bezelling around, bead embroidery and even wire work. They are the same size as a size 11 or size 8 seed bead, but much thinner. Wonderful to use for increasing and decreasing in tubular Peyote stitch and can be used as a tiny spacer too. ... 11.01.2022 If cabochons interest you but you want a quick project, how about adding a simple bail with glue. We have a new range of bails just right for the job, the flat part sits behind the cabochon and you can slip a chain through the loop. 04.01.2022 Today during "August Cabohon Month" we are taking a closer look at the beautiful Czech glass cabochons. Unlike the buttons we have available these cabochons have a completly flat back. This means there is more flat surface to glue down on Lacys stiff stuff which creates a stronger bond with E6000 glue. You can then bezel around your design with bead embroidery, bead weaving or wire work. Or perhaps you could glue a simple bail on the back and wear it right away as is. We will wrap up flowerfriday at the end of this year and try something new next year - but we may just bring this back again another time as I do love it. 02.01.2022 August is Cabochon month at Cranberry! If you are looking for the same colour stone, that is available in many sizes, then maybe the shiny depth of a Cats Eye Cabochon is for you. They are flat backed and are shiny glass finished with a perfect dome top. Use a few of these to accent a necklace or bracelet design. The larger cabochons would make a beautiful focal piece. Cats eye cabochons are perfect for beading around, bezeling and used in wire work designs.... 01.01.2022 Its the end of August and we are wrapping up Cabochon month with a new kit. This patterns has been created by Puca, from Les Perles par Puca and we have created four colourways for you to choose from. https://www.cranberry.net.au/product-category/beading-kits/ The benefits of buying a kit are that you get the beads you need and dont have to buy extras, of course once you have made the kit you can buy more beads in other colours if you want to make more. These samples have a small loop at the back for a chain, but you can easily make the loop bigger if you want to add a beaded rope. Some of these use Kheops beads and some use Super Kheops, these are interchangable in this pattern.
