23.01.2022 Historically less than half of our students attend school on the Monday before Melbourne Cup Tuesday. The reduced numbers interrupt our regular teaching and learning program so an alternative program will be run on the day. This means that classes will not be running as timetabled and regular, timetabled teachers may not be available to students due to various reasons. Please see Compass for more details

11.01.2022 Reminder: today is a curriculum day and therefore student free.

11.01.2022 White Ribbon Day is an opportunity for the CESC community to come together to raise awareness to prevent men’s violence against women. The statistics for violence against women in Australia are devastatingly high and as such, CESC seeks to teach our young people how to recognise and challenge violence against women and build respectful relationships. White Ribbon day serves as a reminder for staff, students and the wider CESC community to promote and role model gender equali...ty and create a safe, inclusive school culture to stop violence against women. CESC is encouraging students to create change and stand up, speak out and act to end gendered violence. One may ask why the focus is on violence against women and not men. We understand men and children are victims too, though this particular campaign focuses on violence against women (as the statistics are so high, with 2020 being the highest report of family incidents in Victoria). CESC does not condone violence of any nature to men, women or children. If you have been affected by gendered violence, you can seek support from: - Shakti - 1800 72 584 - InTouch - 1800 755 988 or https://intouch.org.au/contact-us/ (self referral form) - Safe Steps Family Violence Response Center - Open 24 hours 1800 015 188 - Men’s Referral Service via ‘No to Violence’ (works with men who use family violence) 1300 766 491

10.01.2022 CONGRATULATIONS!!! HEADSTART team offer congratulations to Aisha Ashby, Alexis Watts, Georgia Prys, Payman Akbari and Omer Coruk who have successfully navigated the demands of completing their senior studies, whilst forging ahead in their chosen careers. They now transition into full time employment having established their apprenticeship with the support of the HEADSTART program. These year 12 graduates have an established pathway which is particularly important in an uncert...ain and unstable labour market. As an overview, HEADSTART is an exciting program which assists students to identify their career path and then supports them into work-based learning (apprenticeship / traineeships). Students will become qualified in their chosen field whilst also completing their senior studies and be awarded their year 12 certificate. Another benefit of the program is that it allows employers an opportunity to invest in the development of young workers, by presenting students with real life work experiences. HeadStart has offered our students an amazing opportunity. For students to be able to remain at school to complete their Year 12 Certificate and at the same time start their Apprenticeship/ Traineeship in their chosen industry. With the security of leaving school and already having a full-time employment in place they are in a very fortunate situation, especially in the current climate of rising youth unemployment. I have seen huge growth in these students both academically and personally, as they have learned to balance the competing demands of schoolwork, TAFE work and employment. Success in this program requires students to be highly motivated, have a great work ethic and have excellent organisational and communication skills; skills required for success in any future workplace. I am incredibly proud of Aisha, Alexis, Omer, Georgia and Payman and I am confident they are leaving school and continuing in pathways that will bring them well deserved success. VCAL Leader Irene Greenwood Any interested students or further enquires please contact Kellie-Ann Darlington on 0413 270 132 or [email protected]
