25.01.2022 In these difficult times we are constantly adapting to meet the needs of the community. Our amazing sister clinic, Rosebud Skin Cancer Centre is being temporarily converted to a COVID-19 testing facility under the Australian Government initiative. Skin cancer services will continue at an alternative site in Mornington. For patients on the Peninsula who require an appointment, they will be seen at 1 Ross Street Mornington - formally known as Manor Medical Aesthetics. ... Otherwise the team at Cranbourne Skin Cancer Centre will be more than happy to take on any new patients as well. (We would like to emphasize that Cranbourne Skin Cancer Centre will remain as a skin cancer clinic, and we are NOT providing COVID-19 testing here) Service levels will remain the same - we pride ourselves on providing the highest level of care to patients regardless of background. Contact numbers as follows: Rosebud/Mornington clinics 03 5986 1600 Cranbourne clinic 03 5995 1036 Please give us a call if you have any questions!

21.01.2022 Our biggest concern is that any potential delays in cancer investigations may lead to more advanced stages of cancer at diagnosis and poorer patient outcomes. Cancer won’t wait. Official statement from Cancer Australia, following a report released on 15/09/2020. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic there has unfortunately been a decline in the diagnosis and treatment of three of the most common cancers, including skin cancers. Treatment for a range of malignant skin cancers, includ...ing melanomas, basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) decreased between 16-30% from March to April 2020. We may feel like our lives have been put on hold because of Covid-19 let’s not put our health on hold too. Cancers, if undiagnosed and untreated can progress rapidly and result in more complicated outcomes and poorer prognosis. Early detection and treatment saves lives, and as an essential service our doors will always be open to patients. It has been nearly 8 months since the diagnosis of Australia’s first Covid-19 case. We are going to have to accept that this will not be a short road to recovery, and are going to have to learn to live with this (with precautions) for a little while. Do not let this get in the way of your life, your physical and mental health things will get better and we should aim to emerge on the other side in our best form! It’s not just skin cancer that doesn’t wait. That pap smear you’ve been putting off? Get it done. That new breast lump you’ve noticed? Get it checked. That unexplained 25kg you’ve lost in the past 6 months? Speak to your doctor about it. In the face of all uncertainty, your GP will always be there for you as first port of call. If you need to make an appointment, please ring us a call on 03 5995 1036. No referral is required. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wQgAokTe8_Y&feature=youtu.be

20.01.2022 With the announcement of Stage 4 restrictions in metropolitan Melbourne, we have had to review our practices and decide on the best move forward. As a medical clinic, our doors remain open for all patients who need us. Strict hygiene measures remain in place. All patients are required to wear masks upon presentation to the clinic, and all our staff members will be wearing face shields on top of surgical masks, as an extra layer of protection. Appointments will always be avai...lable for wound reviews, and if you require a lesion of concern looked at urgently. For high risk patients with a history of complex or multiple skin cancers, we will continue to care for you as appropriate. DHHS Victoria's official statement is to not put off getting medical care. If you need to see a doctor or get your skin checked, you should still do so. Please get in contact with us if you have any concerns about your appointment. All diagnosed skin cancers will still be treated accordingly, please speak to our doctor if you have any concerns about your treatment plan. All cosmetic related excisions will not be performed for the next 6 weeks, as these are categorized as elective procedures. We have decided to temporarily suspend our full mole mapping services from next week onwards until 13 September 2020, as these appointments can take up to an hour or more. Again, if you have a particular lesion you are worried about please get in contact with us and we will still see you. If you require urgent proof that you are attending a medical appointment, please let us know and we can send an SMS to your registered mobile phone number. As a reminder, you and your carer are permitted to travel for health care reasons and the 5km limit does not apply. We ask for your understanding and cooperation in this difficult time, we have had to limit our business hours and this may change from week to week. We have reduced our staff capacity so there is a limit to the number of people on site at a time. You may not see your favourite nurse at your appointment but rest assured they will be back! Our phones may occasionally be diverted to our sister clinic in Rosebud when we are not available, but someone will take your call and help you out. It has been a long and hard 5 months for everyone, if you need any help at all please do not hesitate to speak to one of our staff members. We promise to continue to look after our patients with conscience and care, you may not see our smiles under the masks but they will always be there! We will be in contact with our patients over the next few days if changes need to be made to any appointments. If you have any questions or concerns, or wish to make an appointment, please ring us on 03 5995 1036.

20.01.2022 We are ONE!! And so excited to say we are still growing! We’ve been quiet on Facebook lately but only because it’s been getting so busy at the clinic (which is fantastic). This year we are welcoming more new staff; are offering plenty of mole mapping appointments; and are aiming to be operational 5 days a week starting March Watch this space! To all our patients who have been with us from the start, our heartfelt thanks to you. We could not have grown without your trust, your word of mouth, and your ongoing support. Please continue to spread the word! We are aiming to stick around and promise to continue delivering exceptional care to the local community and surrounds If you have not had a skin check recently, we’d love to see you soon at the clinic!

20.01.2022 We would like to reassure all our patients that it is still business as usual at the clinic right now. In order to protect our patients and staff we have implemented the following measures: - Hand sanitizers are available in every room, patients are encouraged to sanitize their hands upon entry to the clinic and prior to leaving - All examination beds and surfaces are wiped down with hospital grade disinfectant after each patient this has always been our protocol. In additi...on to this staff are also wiping down door handles after each patient - We have opened up an unused room to be utilized as a second waiting room. This ensures more than adequate spacing between each patient - Appointments have been spaced out so there are no more than 4 patients in the clinic at a given time (spread across 2 waiting rooms) We ask for our patients’ cooperation in maintaining the safety and hygiene standards of our clinic: - If you are unwell; or have returned from overseas in the last 14 days; or if you have been in contact with a suspected COVID-19 case please DO NOT ATTEND the clinic. Please ring us so we can reschedule your appointment - Please sanitize your hands upon entry to the clinic and prior to leaving - Unless you require assistance or an interpreter, please attend your appointments ALONE if possible. If you have arrived with a companion, we ask that they wait for you outside/in the car to minimize unnecessary contact with other patients - If you are unable to attend your appointment, please ring and inform us so we can cancel or reschedule your appointment We know it is a difficult time for all, and we will endeavor to put our patients' best interests at heart. Again, we would like to reassure our patients that we will remain here for all your concerns, particularly those who are currently undergoing or have just undergone treatment at our clinic. Our well wishes to everyone, please stay safe and be responsible. Together, if we all do our part, we will get through this as a community.

13.01.2022 We understand that the recent announcement of stage 3 restrictions may again cause some confusion and worry among our patients. The incidence of skin cancer does not change during a pandemic. We encourage all patients to continue active surveillance of their skin, and to seek medical attention if they notice any new, changing, or growing lesions. Certain groups of patients are at higher risk of skin cancers, and they are strongly encouraged to attend for skin checks. It is un...fortunate that COVID-19 restrictions have been extended, but this should not result in delayed diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers. 2 in 3 Australians will be diagnosed with a skin cancer by the age of 70. If detected early, most skin cancers, including melanoma, are easily treatable. We have remained open throughout the initial COVID-19 restrictions, with increased attention to sanitizing, hygiene, social distancing and PPE. We will continue to remain open throughout this challenging time as an essential service. There will be no delay in obtaining a diagnosis or accessing treatment at our clinic. To all our wonderful patients, stay safe, look out for one another, and wash your hands! We have done this before, and we can do it again. If you have any questions or concerns, please ring us on 59951036.

09.01.2022 We are still here for patients who require our services. Cranbourne Skin Cancer Centre would like to advise all patients, as per the Department of Health and the Skin Cancer College Australasia (SCCA), that skin cancer management is still considered an essential service and should continue. If you fall in any of the following categories, it is advisable that you still attend for review:... - High risk skin cancer patients, e.g. personal history of melanoma, or history of multiple non melanoma skin cancers within the last 6 months - If you have a biopsy proven skin cancer that requires treatment - If you have noticed any new, changing or growing lesions; or any non-healing lesions - If your GP has referred you for a lesion they are concerned about Reviews can be done either by a visit in person, or in certain cases Telehealth (video consultation) may be sufficient. The following low risk patients may elect to postpone their routine annual skin checks: - Low sun exposure history - Patients that are up to date with annual skin checks, with no skin cancers diagnosed in the last 2 years - Patients under the age of 18 (unless there is a particular lesion of concern) We would also like to reiterate that if you are unwell, or have any contact with a suspect COVID-19 case, please do not attend the clinic. If you require an appointment or if you have any questions, please ring us on 5995 1036 and we can organise the appropriate follow up.
