24.01.2022 The Tikka T3X is an increasingly popular choice on the range and in the field. This week we treated a T3x In 6.5Creedmoor with a Five colour Multicam Cerakote pattern on the stock body, Armor Black on the metalwork as well as Micro-slicking of the bolt body and internals. One of our VENOM S1-4 Port brakes was also fitted. This package is going to be nice to shoot and virtually maintenance free. (You could say that it looks pretty sexy as well). Cheers, JB

22.01.2022 Cerakote is a beautiful match to the oil finished two piece timber stock on this little Winchester. It came in last month covered in surface rust. All metalwork was repaired and finished in H-238 Midnight Blue and the internals were given some TLC. I'm sure it's owner will be impressed.

22.01.2022 The "Storm Trooper" - coming to a PRS match near you... H-series "Bright White" is not a Cerakote colour I'm often asked to use on firearms. We used it to good effect this week on a customer's Tikka TAC - A1 Chassis to re-produce a Star Wars , "storm trooper" theme. Good to see a few guys having a bit of fun with their competition rigs. Unless it snows - this one's gonna stand out.

18.01.2022 Another batch of VENOM S2 brakes should be ready for coating next week. A few have been going out the door lately and the feedback has been fantastic. Many thanks to our growing customer base that have recommded and used our brake especially in the LR, PRS , and PSR circuits and made this little Aussie product compete with the imports ! . Borgy.

17.01.2022 6.5 280 Ackley Improved reamer, now in the workshop. This cartridge is the king of non-magnum 6.5’s. With a Berger 140 VLD, overall length is approximately 3.520 to touch the lands, so it can be used in a standard Remington style long action magazine box, as well as feed from currently available Ai detachable mags, HS Precision, and Wyatt’s Outdoor. In a 26 barrel the 140 grain Berger can be driven to 3200FPS without excess pressure, equalling the ballistic ability of the... .264 Win mag while using 7-10 grains less powder to do so. With Hornady 143gr ELD-X and the 147 ELD-match, this cartridge is a genuine long range option for a long action with a 308 bolt face. Full custom dies are not required for the 6.5x280AI. We recommend using a Redding Type S .280 Ackley Improved bushing sizer die, with a .292 Neck bushing and 6.5mm expander/decapper assembly. One pass through the sizing die forms the neck to the proper diameter, no fire forming required. We use Nosler Custom .280AI brass, but if you don’t mind fire forming you can make brass from Norma .280 Remington or Lapua .30-06 brass (neck will be slightly shorter when using the .30-06 case) See more

14.01.2022 The Styer Scout rifle is a different machine when it comes to bolt action rifles. I This example is chambered in .376 Styer and was a bit of a handful in a light outfit so the owner wanted a custom threaded VENOM S1 22mm body brake fitted. He also had ideas for a cerakote colour scheme that sounded pretty cool. First job was making a custom tool in order to remove the barrel from it's unique assembly so that it could be set up properly in the lathe. With that out of the way a...nd the brake fit and timed it was onto the Cerakote job. The metalwork and other bits and pieces were done in H-series Armor Black and the hand cut stencil tiger stripe pattern is done in Federal Brown and Desert Sand. See more

09.01.2022 This weeks finished project is a very handy sporter built on a quality Bighorn Origin RD3 action. The customer wanted something easy to carry and shoot in his favourite 6.5 Creedmoor caliber which really isn't a bad choice for use on Australia's feral and deer species. The rifle has been fitted with one of our ALPHA 1 barrel blank imported from North America and finished at 24" which is around optimal for this caliber. Trigger is TriggerTech "Special" set at 1.5Lb. The light...-weight but rigid Fiber-glass composite Bell & Carlson stock has allowed a #4 contour barrel to be used and still keep the outfit at around 4kg with a hunting weight scope / rings and magazine full of ammo. For Weather resistance the barrel / receiver and bottom metal have been coated in CERAKOTE Elite series "Midnight" which will stand up to the abuse of the harshest mountain hunts. See more

06.01.2022 22 Creedmoor reamer now in stock. The 22 Creedmoor is quickly establishing itself as the go to big 22 calibre. The accuracy nodes are wide and forgiving and with a 30 degree shoulder feeding from a BDL type set up is reliable 22 CRM is the perfect configuration for functionality with heavy conventional jacketed bullets within short action magazines. With an 80 grain bullet and a 26" 1:8 twist barrel the velocity is around 3500fps and deadly out to 500 metres + on fallow size ...deer and goats with correctly place shots. On lighter thin skinned game such as foxes and feral dogs shots out to 700 + are possible. Outer Edge Projectiles 224 57 grain BBT (ball bearing tips) are another potent hunting option with a MV of 3700fps and still travelling at 2200fps at 500 metres. OEP are a 100% reliable and tough bullet and offer many advantages over both Barnes and Cutting Edge. The OEP 57gr will also take fallow, pigs and goats out to 400 metres. Brass for 22 CRM is made by Hornady, Alpha and Peterson. See more

05.01.2022 This little Kimber Mountain rifle chambered in .300WSM weighing only 2.850Kg (6.2Lb) packs a heap of punch at both ends! The customer decided it was time to get the rig field ready by booking it in for a Cerakote job glass bedding job, Trigger job and have it fit with a Limbsaver recoil pad in the back and one of my Venom S1 Brakes up front to tame the recoil. This 22mm diameter brake is the sporter / varmint version of it's bigger 1" bodied brother that doesn't spoil the ba...lance of a sporter rifle like this. The Camo pattern is a stenciled 3 colour H-series Cerakote design based on a sample picture that the customer provided. JB.

03.01.2022 Just a little post to thank our growing base of valued customers for their support over the last 12 months and wish you all a safe Christmas and New Year Period. A lot has been achieved with plenty of accurate rifles built, some amazing scores shot and heaps of well earned trophies on the ground. Whether you're a dedicated competitor, commercial shooter or hardcore hunter, it has been a pleasure to work with you and we look forward to doing it all again in 2020.... ....I'll be out of the workshop in a few days and will return in the second week of January.
