24.01.2022 And sleeping on without a dream. Thank you Paul Kelly.

19.01.2022 Thanks to wonderful people like Julie Venables, the #BlackThroatedFinch earring-wearing mob are growing daily and we suspect many great conversations to result when people ask about those cute lil birdies. Let's get more peeps talking #BTF and why? #StopAdani

18.01.2022 In these strange times of social distancing and self isolating with loads of people stuck inside with, perhaps, just their screen for a safe companion, Cranky Curlew decided to release a little film we shot entirely on Magnetic Island for last year's Animating Magnetic Film Festival. So, tonight at 8pm, join us to watch the online premier of our very own, 'Gone with the Wind".

16.01.2022 It's a dark day in the south but at #Woodfordia the #BlackThroatedFinch earrings are getting a fair outing on the ears of Rosie and Marg who are doing a little bit to stop the cause of the terrible fires. Remember peeps, for every sale of #BlackThroatedFinchEarrings, $40 goes to an organisation working hard to #StopAdani

15.01.2022 Cranky Curlew is very chuffed to announce that we have now been authorised to raise funds for WIRES through the sale of #BlackThroatedFinch earrings. And, so far and with the help of some extra amounts donated on top of our sales, we have raised $454.00. It's very important for us to show clearly that the donations have been made so we've posted a couple of screen shots (more to come) including part of our authorising permission message from WIRES' Fundraising Coordinator Alessandra Rocci. So, if you would like to help us make more dollars for WIRES and get to own a gorgeous pair of limited edition, hand painted, laser etched, BTF earrings as well, just message us and we will be in touch.

12.01.2022 So cool to see Magnetic Island singer Lauren Gregory framed by some very close fans and wearing the #BlackThroatedFinch earrings that start conversations we need to have as we move to #StopAdani

10.01.2022 Hard to find a more deserving wearer when it comes to the Black-Throated Finch

06.01.2022 In the face of the catastrophic climate fires facing our southern states, Cranky Curlew Productions is announcing that ALL proceeds (yup the whole $88) from the sale of the next 12 #BlackThroatedFinch earrings will be donated to WIRES the NSW Wildlife Information and Rescue Service Public Gift Fund. Reports suggest over 1 BILLION animals may have died. As this project was designed to support endangered BTFs we think it’s appropriate that we temporarily halt the fundraising ...for organisations fighting to #StopAdani to direct the funds to this acutely critical need. 12 pairs of our limited edition, hand painted and laser etched BTF earrings will raise over $1,000. This is a very limited offer to do a little something for surviving wildlife and receive a wonderful gift that’s starting conversations about these threatened birds, Adani, and now, the climate fires. They are all very much connected. Over to you. Message us now for payment details.

05.01.2022 Lisa Mondo, a former Islander who's also a fabulous musician, singer, songwriter, acrobat and a star of the Palm Creek Festival, has just ordered her #BlackThroatedFinch earrings. Lisa told Cranky Curlew, "I bought the beautiful finch earrings without hesitation. I fully support Cranky Curlew’s brilliant, innovative, and artistic endeavours that promote climate change awareness and campaigning for environmental causes. Australians care about our wildlife, and donating to hel...p rehabilitation of our native animals, post the fire disaster, is the right thing to do. Thank you Lisa. All of the $88 price of your earrings will be going to help rehabilitate injured wildlife in NSW through WIRES. Cranky Curlew have directed all funds for the sale of 12 pairs of earrings towards WIRES which will raise over $1000. You too can be seen wearing these very cool, limited edition, conversation starters. They are all about saving animals and the environment they inhabit. When the 12 are sold we will resume our efforts to raise funds for orgs fighting to #StopAdani. Just message us for deets!

05.01.2022 Here's one for parents of little kids. Cranky Curlew just got to work with a whole bunch of kids at the MI kindy and made a fun little video about recycling. But here's the thing. They learnt about plastic and recycling from MI Zero Waste's Molly Black like kittens learn to lap milk. So when you're slacking off and dumping a perfectly recyclable container in the rubbish bin, watch out. There may just be a very well informed junior inspector on the prowl and ready to call you out! Love it or loath it. We don't care. Just get serious about refusing, reusing, repurposing and recycling. And watch the flick from 3pm here on Tuesday April 28.

02.01.2022 There's nothing quite like watching kids learning stuff and absorbing new ideas. And there's nothing quite like being able to capture those moments on film. We think we have just a little of this in our latest flick, "Little things matter", produced for Zero Waste Magnetic Island. It's a film about learning and changing behavior and the crazy-cute kids are something to behold as they jump, hop and pounce upon the variables of what can now be recycled - all under the guidance of Zero Waste's fabulous Molly Black. And a big shout out to Townsville City Council for funding Zero Waste Magnetic Island through a grant to the Magnetic Island Community Development Association.

01.01.2022 Welcome to our Online World Premier of Gone with the Wind. Shot as mostly stop-frame animation last year, Gone with the Wind, was one of our entries into the Animating Magnetic Film Festival. There's a little story here and a load of evokation about the timeless charm and tempo of Magnetic Island which we hope those who know Magnetic will also recognise.
