11.01.2022 One year today since my car crashed into a dam and sank with me inside. I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank my friends and family for saving my arse this time last year. Thanks to my mum and dad for driving down to the Kangaroo Valley late in the evening that Saturday night and picking me up. Thanks to my good mate Francis Misfud, Saint Francis, mac wizard, all-round legend, for paying for my scuba-diving gear hire and driving me down to the valley so I could rec...over all the equipment from the sunken car. A complete and absolute legend and I’ll never forget your help. Huge thanks to Chris Bernauer, Bron Harrison, Rocket, and all the Musician community who helped me put some coin together so I could continue working as a musician and recover everything that was lost. I can’t even begin to express my appreciation but I am still so immensely thankful. Sadly, the venue that I was supposed to play that evening burnt down three months later in the bushfires that followed. The kangaroo valley bush retreat staff and managers were so unbelievably helpful and hospitable on that evening. They took me in, gave me food, gave me a shower, let me wear their clothes, and kept me from getting too down. It’s terribly sad to think that the room we were sitting in, and the venue that I was supposed to sing at, would be gone within a couple of months after my accident. I look forward to playing there again when it’s rebuilt. It’s amazing how much the world can change in one year. If there’s one thing that I learnt from the experience it is that life can work out for the better in the long run if you just keep your head together and push through the challenging times. Adversity doesn’t define you. How you deal with it does. Once again, thank you to all my friends and family for your help and support. I am grateful, humbled, and I will never forget it. Enjoy this beautiful day, and as much as it is a cliche, remember the ancient Persian adage this too shall pass.
