22.01.2022 Do you monitor your screen time? Whilst the iPhone screen time feature could be seen as a negative and the use of it could understandably be avoided at all costs, Ive chosen to use mine as a positive, and make a point of checking mine weekly. Why? Because like many, Im aware that I can use my phone for good and evil .... The good? Keeping in touch with loved ones, scheduling appointments, speaking with my clients, engaging with likeminded people online and posting quality content such as this. The evil? Looking at my phone while Im still in bed, procrastinating, scrolling mindlessly on social media and letting my phone take my focus from important tasks or the ones I love. So, how is monitoring my screen time working for me? How am I using my phone for good and conquering evil? By monitoring it and taking action to reduce it for the better. In the past month, Ive managed to halve my screen time each day - thats right, halve it. The result? Massive increase in productivity, output, results and overall happiness. How did I do it? Here are a few tips: 1. Refrain from checking your phone in bed 2. Only use social media during your audiences peak times and your free times (for me, this is after 6pm.) 3. Keep your phone out of your office when youre not using it (as a writer, I cant have my phone going off all the time.) 4. Schedule a set call time per day (i.e. return all your calls at once.) 5. Reward yourself at the end of the day with phone time - youll enjoy it more when all your tasks are completed. Do you monitor your screen time?

20.01.2022 When you stop seeing customers as more than just money makers and start seeing them as real people, with real needs, longing for someone to listen, you’re truly ready for a journey on the road to connection... Whether you’re an independent bakery owner, corporate gift box delivery manager, inner-city florist, business coach and consultant, or restaurant extraordinaire if you’re in business, you can benefit. The road to customer connections:... Quit the one-size-fits-all approach immediately: Grouping every single customer together harms the individuality of each customer and thwarts connection. Respond to concerns and feedback professionally and appropriately: Don’t make excuses or ignore negative feedback, especially on social media. Try rectifying accordingly. Say goodbye to aggressive selling tactics once and for all: Conversational conveys better. Review communication methods: Face-to-face interactions still have their rightful place, but always ask what your customer’s best method of communication is and don’t forget to mention yours. Be careful how you grow: Your business is there to grow, so by all means grow it, but don’t step on and ignore loyal customers to get places. Appreciate customers thoughtfully: This can be in the form of discounts and/or personalised thank you messages or gifts, for supporting your business. Craving more connection tips? 18.01.2022 Copywriting is emotional. So emotional in fact, that I wrote a whole blog about it. As a fellow business owner, and even dedicated employee, Im sure you put your blood, sweat and tears into your work on the regular - the tears part of this... that is emotional. Whether you like it or not, your emotions always comes into play - one way or another. When it comes to attracting new customers, emotions come into play here too. We want our customers to be moved by us, our business... and our brand and to really desire and NEED what were offering them. Whether its to make the reader laugh, cry, relate, engage or crave, or all of the above, how can we move our customers? With words. With the right words. Emotional words. Want to read more about why copywriting is emotional? Head to my blog. https://cravencontent.com.au/why-copywriting-is-emotional/

17.01.2022 Im a big believer in the fact that its okay to share something personal about yourself. Its okay to be real and its okay to be a little vulnerable, even in the business world. Why? Because people buy from people and if you dont show your personality, yourself and your true colours, then why would they buy from you? How can they possibly know who theyre buying from if you dont tell them? As a Copywriter, one of my most important roles is to get to know you and let yo...u shine through in my writing After all, its you Im writing about! Lets be honest though. What you share must be within reason Your potential customer probably doesnt need or want to know about your recent divorce, imaginary childhood friend, latest crush or what you ate for breakfast. They may want to, however, know a bit about you, what kind of person you are, how you got to where you are today and why you do what you do. All this impacts their decision as to whether theyre going to buy from you. And so, with that in mind, here's a little insight into me...

17.01.2022 One of the biggest lessons Ive learned as a Copywriter is that Im not writing for me, Im writing for my clients. More importantly, Im writing for my clients target audience: aka the readers. Granted, I still write for myself when Im journaling, writing my own blog, or working on a personal project, sure, but its crucial to separate the two. Why? Because youre not writing to engage with, influence, create awareness for, or sell to yourself, youre writing with the goal... to achieve this for someone else - those someones who will boost your clients business or help them sell more products. Writing what I think, feel, want, believe in, or resonate with certainly isnt going to achieve this for them! UNLESS I just so happen to be their exact customer avatar and ideal customer, its not about me. Is it about time you wrote for them and not you?

17.01.2022 Have you ever been so involved in your business that you miss the finer detail? Youre not alone! As an outside source, with a fresh pair of eyes, a copywriter provides a fresh, new and creative approach to your business. My Creative Brief process ensures I get to know you and your business, understand your goals and expectations, and comprehend the nitty gritty: target market, brand words, tone of voice, unique selling point and more.... Sometimes its hard to let go of the reigns of your business (trust me, I know), but hiring a copywriter may just be the best decision you ever make for growing yours. Think of it as a fresh perspective to find the spark and magic in your business, that might have been lost along the way...

16.01.2022 One of the main goals of writing killer content is to make it shareable to make customers want to share what they read with their friends and family. And what better way to advertise your business for free than with social media sharing? What makes content shareable? Value.... We all LOVE value - Tips and tricks for your customer within website content provide tons of it.

16.01.2022 What does being a boss mean to you? To me, being a boss lady means freedom, flexibility, autonomy, control, courage, strength, creativity, choice and much more. Sounds magical, right? It certainly is, but there are challenges and other aspects of being a boss lady that you dont see...being a boss lady also means pressure, self doubt, fear, instability, stress, confusion, late nights and loneliness.... Will the challenges of being a boss lady ever disappear? Probably not. And thats okay, because in life, anything worth having is hard to obtain, anything that scares you is wonderful, and anything that challenges you is worth its weight in gold. Heres to all the bosses and boss ladies out there choosing to walk the hard road instead of the easy one, feeling the fear and doing it anyway, and challenging themselves to continually grow. You should be very proud.

16.01.2022 As I look back on the year that was, I don’t look at it as a negative one, but rather a year full of challenges and opportunities for growth. It was the many challenges that highlighted my strength and resilience as a person and the business I have built. It was the hardship of so many that renewed my gratitude and appreciation for ‘the little things.’ ... It was the opportunities to adapt and dare I say ‘pivot’, that gave me the courage I needed to grow. As a result of 2020, me, my business, my brand and my relationship are stronger than ever. I purchased my very first home and the love of my life asked me to marry him . For that 2020, I thank you and it’s a year I’ll never forget! Whilst my year started on a low, it is most certainly going to end on a high! No matter how your 2020 went or how it’s about to end, I wish you love, happiness, growth and gratitude for the new year ahead (one I know we’re all very much looking forward to). 2021... we’re coming for you! 13.01.2022 Wondering why I do what I do? Let me share my ‘WHY’ with you As a child I had a severe stutter and wasn’t able to get my thoughts and feelings across as often, or as well as I would have liked. Sometimes, I wasn’t able to get them across at all.... I would spend much longer than the average person trying to speak. So much so, I would often cry, yell, scream or have a tantrum because I was so extremely fed up and frustrated. But for the most part, I would just give up. And so, because speaking was often such a challenge for me I wrote! I wrote whenever and whatever I could. I wrote anything from stories to poems, to song lyrics, to everyday life in my journal. It was easier for me. I could express exactly what I wanted to express, when and how I wanted to express it. The page I was writing on, or the keyboard I was typing on, wouldn’t laugh at me or try to finish my sentences...With writing, I was free!

13.01.2022 Everyone has a voice and story, but not everyone knows the right words to convey it. Some of us are good with crunching numbers, some of us are maestros in the kitchenand then you have the rare word wizards who love spelling, grammar and revel at a chance to edit and proofread another’s work. As a Copywriter, I’m proudly the latter. If it’s not spelt right, doesn’t read well, is grammatically incorrect or doesn’t quite shine, I can snap my wordsmith fingers and fix it.... Craven Content’s editing and proofreading services turn typos into terrific tales and boring content into magical masterpieces of the written word.

13.01.2022 Your brand is important. In the words of Jeff Bezos, Founder of Amazon, Your brand is what people say about you when youre not in the room. Without a brand, how will customers get to know and recognise you, let alone choose to buy from you?... Strong, iconic brands are memorable and stick in consumers minds Think of a high-powered vacuum, then think of nice and affordable furniture you have to put together yourself, and finally a fizzy dark coloured drink its no coincidence that you likely thought of; Dyson, IKEA and Coca Cola. They created their brands this way for a reason. Whilst Im not saying youre going to become a world-renowned brand overnight, below are a few simple starting points to develop your very own business brand and make it shine bright in the minds of your potential customers: 1. Develop your unique identity and tone of voice and make this consistent. 2. Establish your brand personality Do you want to be clear and professional? Fun and quirky? How about all four? 3. Commit 100% to nurture and uphold your business brand and what you want it to be. 4. Find your own brand words and use them everywhere. 5. Brand the shit out of all your stuff (thanks for the laptop case mum.) What does your brand say when youre not in the room? #businessbranding #copywriter #cravencontent

13.01.2022 I’ve been spending the week reflecting on the last 3 years - the ups, the downs and the sideways. You never understand what it’s like to be in business until you’re in it for yourself. No one tells you how difficult it’s going to be. They usually don’t tell you how incredible it’s going to be either. It’s different for each business owner though, and no journey is ever quite the same.... It got me thinking about what the last 3 years have taught me and I decided to write about my 3 biggest business lessons in 3 years. Stay tuned for my latest blog to find out what they are.

13.01.2022 Vulnerability: the quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally. We see it with prey in the natural world (physically) and when people prey on our hearts in the human world (emotionally). In the business world, vulnerability centres around breaking down barriers and declaring to the world that you, a successful business owner, aren’t perfect and neither is the path to owning and operating a business.... #vulnerability #perthsmallbusiness

11.01.2022 So good I had to share!

10.01.2022 3 YEARS!!! 3 years ago today, I took a bold leap of faith and quit my stable, well paying corporate job to pursue my dreams. 3 years, 160 clients, 1 contract writer, over 1 million words, some blood, sweat, red wine, LOTS of tears, and a few meltdowns later, I’m still here.... I’m still here giving it my all, using my way with words to help businesses shine - Doing what I love and on my own terms. Is it always easy? No! Is it always worth it? Hell yes! Special thank you to my parents Gemma and Geoff, for supporting me financially and emotionally from the very beginning - Not only would I literally not be here today without you, I wouldn’t have the courage or capacity to follow my dreams. Another special thank you to my partner Maarten, for being my rock since we met nearly 2 years ago. You support and encourage me with regular notes and affirmations, deliver food to my office when you know I’m not eating, and make me close my office door and tell me that Craven Content is closed late at night when I really should be taking a break. Your belief in me has truly been amazing and I thank God for bringing you into my life every single day. Thank you to my business coach Conrad Francis, my incredible networking group and fellow business owners and mentors I’ve met along my journey - because of you I am no longer afraid or alone in the business world. Thank you to my amazing contract writer Kate, for helping me make sure all the words always get written, and a few of my close girlfriends for listening, advising and supporting my business - always (you know you are...but you might get a message from me today, to make sure you do). Last but not least, my wonderful clients - for entrusting me to help your businesses shine! Here’s to many more years - I can’t wait to make some more magic happen! 09.01.2022 Waffles are best served with strawberries and maple syrup. Waffles (aka waffling) shouldnt be anywhere in or near your website content. Just like waffles, your website content should be short and sweet. So, when writing your website content, keep yours: 1. Clear... 2. Clever 3. Creative 4. Concise Much like this post.

09.01.2022 Coming to terms with the past makes us stronger. As humans, we live, we learn and when were in the right mindset, we learn to let go, which helps us live our lives to the fullest. Moving forward isnt always the easy option, but time and time again, its necessary and the right thing to do to enable us to truly live. From our attitudes and experiences in the past, we can change and grow, learn and move forward.... Not sure how to though? Read more from Perth coach, Conrad Francis to explore the concrete steps to your own growth.

08.01.2022 I can write. Why do I need a Copywriter? Good copy needs to be well written, grammatically correct and free from spelling errors, but its also much more than that. Perfectly written copy is absolutely useless if it doesnt speak directly to your target audience, nor addresses their unique wants and needs.... Why? Because in order to sell your product or service, you need to speak directly to the person you want to sell it to and you need to speak their language! As an excellent Copywriter, I ensure all of this and more.

08.01.2022 Do you have a favourite in your field? Someone you can call on, cheer for, vent to, cry with, collaborate with, brainstorm, and refer work to when you can’t fit it in, or it’s just not your jam? I do! Words with Naomi Faye is all this and more for me. A couple of years ago when Naomi was starting her own business, we met and discussed business and copy over coffee and have remained connected ever since and for that I’m grateful.... If you don’t have a Naomi in your field and in your life, I recommend you find one. No competition here. Just pure connection, collaboration and cool vibes.

05.01.2022 As business owners, we get busy, not only in our businesses but in our personal lives too. With everything weve got going on we often fail to notice the milestones, let alone celebrate them. Small, yet significant milestones such as 500 invoices (I happened to notice this in my Xero yesterday), are so often overlooked. Any milestone in business (and life for that matter) should be celebrated. Why? Because we were built to grow and growth is nourished by encouragement.... Whilst Im not suggesting you throw a party for every single milestone or win in your business (that may become time consuming and extremely expensive), its important to acknowledge and reflect on them. Encourage yourself to keep going and reflect on how far youve come! How did I celebrate reaching 500 invoices? I didnt. Instead, I simply sat quietly for a moment, smiled, shed a little tear and said to myself; Wow! Well done you! Dont let your milestones go unnoticed - acknowledge and reflect on the little ones and throw a party for the big ones.

05.01.2022 Are you still working from home? Perhaps you're now working from home permanently? 03.01.2022 A business that gets seen, is a business that invests time, resources and commitment into their content marketing strategy. A content writer can help you make your content strategy shine.

03.01.2022 Its Friday night! Any guesses what Ill be doing this evening? In case you didnt know already... I love red wine!

03.01.2022 As a business owner, you might be struggling to connect with your customers... This may have something to do with being (or more to the point - not being), personable, relatable and dare I say, a little vulnerable. I’m in the business of keeping it real and that means taking my walls down from time to time and sharing content that’s not always full of lollipops, sunshine and rainbows.... Why shouldn’t you be afraid to be vulnerable in business? Read my latest blog to find out.
