25.01.2022 Boredom = creativity My kids are finally back at school. I’m so happy for them that this is possible, and delighted to have some time for myself. I think for most of us, there have been pros and cons to having them all home. The biggest battle over these past few months has definitely been screen time. It makes me mad, but also sad, that when I tell the kids to get off their screens they only manage to entertain themselves for a short period of time before saying I’m bored.... My first reaction is always, only boring people get bored. Next comes my tirade of There are so many things to play with, so many things to do! Go outside - we have scooters, bikes, soccer goals, a basketball hoop, chalk to draw with, a table tennis table and more. Take the dog out! It makes me wonder whether we are going to have a whole generation of kids who are so addicted to technology that they can no longer be entertained by other things. As parents, it is our job to show our kids that it’s not difficult to find other things to do. Here’s why and advice on how Boredom is good for us it helps to stimulate creativity and focus our concentration. When we’re bored we are forced to seek out something to do, something that stimulates us, and being creative helps meet this need. Being bored also helps train our concentration and attention. Screens and devices, while occupying us, actually decrease our ability to concentrate. Solving our boredom by finding something to do teaches us perseverance and patience. Without external stimulation, our minds are required to get creative, to find something else to arouse our interest and hold our focus. So, the next time you hear the cry I’m bored, help your child think of things they might like to do. Generate some new ideas together and then let them choose something to engage in. Distract them away from those feelings of boredom and set them on a creative path to designing their own entertainment! It’s what we had to do as kids and we excelled at it! We want our kids to be curious, good-natured and spirited and to have perseverance and confidence, so we need to encourage them to explore, create and invent! Let’s be honest for a moment and also reflect on our own screen time. Although I know I have always kept busy, have always had hobbies, and as a kid was really good at entertaining myself, but watching my kids did make me stop and think about all the things I used to do, that I no longer do, because I also waste time on my phone. It’s time to remember how much we used to do without technology, and how much we enjoyed it, and get back to doing some of those other things. Go on, find your inner kid and get creative!

13.01.2022 Does your organisation, or your favourite not-for-profit, need a hand with running an end of financial year fundraising campaign? This is a great time to encourage donors to give, especially if you have a specific project, program or item that needs to be funded. Donors who give more that $2 to a charity with DGR status can claim a deduction on their tax. So firstly, please give! And secondly, get in touch so we can help you maximise your campaign and raise those important dollars. We all know that every dollar counts!

We've been working with these awesome guys for months, building a new brand! Together, we have created a new logo, marketing and communication materials, branded attire, and finally a new website. 12.01.2022 CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGNS Is now a good time to be asking for donations? That depends a little on where you are in your donor cycle and how you have treated your donors since they last gave. It’s been a tough year, for everyone. But Christmas is a time for giving and loyal donors in particular are used to being generous at this time of year. So, can you approach your donors for a donation? ... First, consider whether you have properly acknowledged their last donation. Was it receipted and did you thank them in a timely manner? Did you use their donation for the purpose it was intended? Did you let them know how the money was used and the impact it had? It is so important to make donors feel valued, no matter the size of their gift. You want them emotionally invested in your organisation so you need to make sure they feel like they have a role. Take them along on the journey, report back and share your successes. If you have stayed in touch, have maintained the relationship, and have not been silent during these past few difficult months, then yes reach out. Wish them well, and let them know you’ve been thinking of them and that you hope they have been thinking of you too. Tell them of your plans, why you need their support, and begin your donor cycle again! Good luck! #fundraising #fundraisingcampaign #ChristmasAppeal #donors #donorthanks

09.01.2022 BE CREATIVE As we are currently spending more time at home, we are also forgoing some of the things we usually love to do. For many of us this will include coffee with friends, exercising at the gym, swimming in the pool, going out for a meal, shopping, movies and more. It is important to remember to be kind to yourself and to focus on your health and wellbeing in other ways. Positive health is one of the only things we can control at the moment and there are many ways to mak...e it a priority. For us, a key distraction is to be creative! You don’t have to be an artist (as one of us is definitely not!), you don’t need to be proficient, have the right skills or the best knowledge, you don’t even need to be competent, you just have to give it a go. Sing a song, dance to the beat, draw, write, play, paint, build, doodle and here are some reasons why. Creativity inspires and encourages collaboration, and thinking outside the box, particularly useful in the workplace. Being creative helps us become better at problem solving, teaching us to see things differently and adapt our thinking, allowing us to deal better with uncertainty something we all need right now! Contrary to popular belief, we all have a creative streak and creativity motivates us to invent and innovate. Famed psychologist, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, a leading theorist in the positive mental state, describes creativity as, "a central source of meaning in our lives ... most of the things that are interesting, important, and human are the results of creativity ... [and] when we are involved in it, we feel that we are living more fully than during the rest of life." 1. So what are you waiting for? Creativity is for everyone! Open your mind and your heart to what might be! Don’t dwell on all the things you are currently unable to do and take this time to revive an old hobby or try something new rock painting, mandala colouring, freestyle Lego construction, write a poem, meditate or get back to the piano. It will not only help pass the time but lift your spirits, renew your energy, reduce your level of stress and improve and increase your skills! 1. 09.01.2022 So you’ve managed to secure some philanthropic support, the funding you really needed for your next project, well done! The hard part is done, but it’s not the most important part! Do you know what’s even more important than securing those donors? Acknowledging their support. Be sure to immediately say thank you, and send a timely receipt for their donation. It’s then vital that you report back to your donors. They gave you finicial support in good faith that it would be use...d for the agreed upon cause. So, make sure that’s where the money goes, and let them know how their money was spent. If you bought something tangible, send them a photo and invite them to see it. If the money was used for a program or project, let them know the successful outcomes. You could even get a participant to write a message of gratitude on behalf of everyone involved. If you ran a capital campaign and the works have been completed, host a morning tea and invite your donors for a tour. Before you ask for more, you need to give back. You want to build a relationship, it should benefit both parties! When your supporters feel valued, and know they are essential to your organisation's success, they are more likely to become loyal, ongoing donors. So, keep your donors close and show them how important they are. Say thank you and involve them! It’s not rocket science, just good ol’ fashioned manners! See more

08.01.2022 We hope you have all managed the juggle that is school holidays. Enjoy the last weekend, or perhaps you're already looking ahead to Monday... and if you get back to work next week and realise you're swamped, let us know how we can help you regain some order!

07.01.2022 Does the idea of asking for money/support make you uncomfortable? How about talking about death? Combine these two and you get bequest fundraising - something people find terrifying - but not us! Loyal donors often don’t realise that they can continue to support their favourite causes long after they’re gone, by leaving a bequest. But if your organisation doesn’t have a bequest program, that support dies with the donor - pardon the pun! So, talk to us about setting up a bequest program now and ensure your loyal donors know about it, enabling them to continue making a significant difference to your organisation for many years to come!

07.01.2022 We would like to wish everyone a safe, happy, and joyous summer, whatever you are celebrating. We hope you all have a chance to relax, spend time with loved ones, maybe read a book and go for a walk... just take a moment to do what makes you happy. Thank you for your continued support this year, we look forward to another busy year in 2020!

06.01.2022 FUNDRAISING IN 2020 WITH COVID-19... If you work in the not-for-profit space, we know how hard it is to raise funds at the best of times. At this "tax campaign" time of year, most of you would usually be working on a fairly major drive. If you have decided not to go ahead, or to postpone, for fear of people not having the capacity to give, feel free to chat to us about alternate options for raising those much needed funds. A direct mail campaign to most loyal donors is only one option, and there are people who are still able to give at this time. Dollars are also not the only way people can support you. So get in touch if you'd like to know more!

04.01.2022 That moment when you see three design jobs for clients appear on the one page of the newspaper! Proudly supporting our local community!

04.01.2022 With school holidays starting early in this unusual time, the juggle is harder than ever. For those still trying to school from home, I saw this post and liked the advice! Look after yourselves FROM A TEACHER... To parents/guardians during school closures, if you’re having difficulty and feeling stressed with the added pressure of now being teacher to your child/children, please remember:... You don’t need to replicate the school experience. Don’t try to be your child’s classroom teacher. Just keep being the teacher you ALREADY are. We trained for years to teach the way we do, just as you trained for years to teach the way you do. We couldn’t take over your job overnight, you won’t be able to do ours. Read with your child. Cook with your child. Garden with your child. Enjoy nature with your child. Make and create things with your child. Sing and dance with your child. PLAY with your child! And above all, keep being the kind, calm role-model your child needs through this challenging time. This is how you teach. Keep doing you. Your child is learning from you every day.

Social media, websites, e-marketing, direct mail and more... we have loads of tips and tools to help you get noticed.

02.01.2022 Tomorrow sees a number of our clients and friends celebrating, as Pesach and Easter fall at roughly the same time this year, but whatever you choose to celebrate, we wanted to wish you all a lovely, safe and relaxing long weekend.

01.01.2022 How are you managing the newest juggle - homeschooling?! Remember, you don’t have to replicate the classroom, just do your best! But... if you’re looking for some creative inspiration, Grade 2 Art today - abstract portraits. Draw a portrait without lifting the pencil. Don’t forget all the details! Use warm colours for the face and cool colours for the background. Remember it’s not supposed to look real! Inspired by Picasso of course!
