21.01.2022 2/20 - A Toast To Panama Red is the last studio album by The Master's Apprentices. This is my favourite album from the Master's catalogue, recorded in England a...nd released in January 1972 after the band had split. The album bombed, which is why its so rare, but is described by Australian rock music guru Ian McFarlane as one of the great lost treasures of the Australian progressive rock era. In his words, "it was simply too musically advanced for the local industry of the day to comprehend". See more

09.01.2022 3/20 - Here’s one of the fabulous Australian albums of the 1960s - The Id’s Big-Time Operators circa 1967. This one blew me away the first time a mate played it... for me - a great mix of beat, garage and R&B songs. It features Jeff St John out front - now passed and one of Australia’s greatest soul and funk artists. This is an album worth looking out for. Originally released on the amazing Spin label in mono and stereo, with a quick reissue on Calendar. See more

08.01.2022 4/20 - Introducing Pirana - a brilliant Santana influenced band from the early 70s. This, their first album, was released in 1971 on EMI’s then new progressive ...subsidiary label Harvest. Take some time to have a listen and appreciate just how tight and great was the home grown talent in Australia during this period. Commercial radio may have kowtowed to the Top 40 hit makers, but bands like Pirana were mainstays on the touring circuit. See more

02.01.2022 1/20 - Introducing Bakery. Momento is one of the finest progressive rock records produced in Australia. Bakery were a Perth outfit and this album was released i...n 1972. Bakery ventured east regularly to play on the east coast festival/concert circuit alongside act such as the Aztecs and Chain. Bakery was influenced by bands like Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin. Super cool cover too! See more
