07.01.2022 FOUND!!!!! Thank you so much to every single person who shared this post, went and helped search or called shops etc. He had walked to the train park 1.5km away... then carried on to the Ugangan Pier, a further 3.5km away! We found him through Facebook! He doesn't look when he crosses the road anymore so we were so worried he would walk out in front of a car. He didn't have a hat or water either and it's hot in the Bay today. He can't communicate because of his dementia. He had no phone or way of telling anyone who he was or where he needed to get to. He can't even ask for help. We'll be buying him a GPS watch now and having a serious conversation with the respite centre. Thank you to Les for posting your update (Les is a stranger who saw Dad at the park and checked on him, at that point not knowing that we were looking for him) and Kirstin (another stranger) for calling and letting me know your friend had seen him. He left the park where Les had seen him and carried on to the Pier, which is where Mum found him. Such a relief. Thanks everyone for all your kind words, messages and prayers. Thank goodness for Facebook and for kind people who took the time to comment and let us know. So glad he's been found, hot and sunburnt but otherwise ok xxx MISSING: if anyone in Hervey Bay sees Dad please call me via Facebook Messenger or call Police as they are currently looking for him. He left the respite centre on Exeter St, Torquay at 1:37pm. Hervey Bay friends please circulate for me. He has dementia and can't talk. His name is Wally and he is wearing a medical bracelet.
