25.01.2022 Calling all our aspiring leaders in Year 10 and 11 - a reminder that applications for the 2021 Student Leadership Team close this Sunday. Please send your application form to Ms Pandi. Have a question? Contact your Year Level Coordinator or Ms Pandi.
25.01.2022 Students and staff had plenty to say after R U OK? judging by the response to our activity yesterday. There were many great suggestions of how to keep a conversation going with someone who was struggling with life. The day highlighted the empathy and compassion in our College community and was another way to connect while we are apart. House points were earned for each contribution and the tally at the end of the day was: Fitzgerald 80, Daffey 70, Reed 70 and Glasheen 30. #ruok #ruokday2020 #ruokday
25.01.2022 Our Year 10 Food Technology students were posed with an interesting question last week. What will you be eating when the worlds population is 10 billion? As part of Science Week activities they took part in a LaTrobe University webinar that explored future foods and the role research would play in producing these products. As part of the event, students received free boxes with a range of foods for them to sample and rate, including seaweed, fav-va beans and even some flavoured crickets to snack on!
24.01.2022 A whopping 1850 kilometres have been run, walked or cycled by 55 College staff in the first week of the CRC Melton Staff Active Challenge. Here are the top 3 teams for the week and the weekend.
23.01.2022 Our Social Justice Team has been adding points to house tallies with a Homelessness Week quiz and a Kahoot quiz for yesterdays World Humanitarian Day. Fitzgerald has come out on top earning 145 points for their submissions followed by Reed with 100 points, Glasheen 45 and Daffey 25. This year, World Humanitarian Day pays tribute to aid workers on the front line. Our Social Justice Team has been sharing videos highlighting human rights on SIMON and there will be a full wrap up of their efforts in next weeks newsletter.
23.01.2022 Reed has rocketed to the top of the Trivia Competition leader board after starting out the week in third place with only 87 points! Will Fitzgerald fight back to regain poll position? And if you are a Daffey house member now is the time to jump onto SIMON, follow the link and help your team catch up! Watch this space for the latest tallies.

23.01.2022 Close to 3400km have been run, cycled and walked by our staff over the past two weeks as part of the CRC Melton Staff Active Challenge. As you can see from the tally board, walking was by far the most popular activity with close to 2000km tread compared to a fairly even split in kilometres among cyclists and runners.
21.01.2022 Our Vocal Ensemble led by Musical Director Ms Amy Bandeira have produced this moving version of the classic Beatles song "Let It Be" which premiered at our recent Leadership Investiture. Ms Bandeira was inspired by the thousands of choristers around the world who, while in lockdown, have put together virtual performances. She approached her students with an idea to create something similar. Not only did the ensemble rise to the challenge, these students surpassed expectations..., showing amazing dedication by rehearsing and filming themselves. The backing track was created by Ms Bandeira, and the video editing and audio mix by Different Gravity Virtual Choir Services. There is no doubt the song was the perfect choice for these trying times, conveying the moral message of turning to God and having faith that things will work out for the better in times of hardship. We hope you enjoy this special performance. https://youtu.be/iGJBcxRm4BI
21.01.2022 These mouth-watering cakes were created by our Year 10 Food Studies and Year 10 Hospitality students in their last week of classes. They designed, baked and decorated a vanilla butter cake impressing their teacher Ms Mazur with their level of creativity and care. A high-stress situation resulted in high-quality results. Well done Year 10 foodies!

18.01.2022 NAIDOC Week activities began at lunchtime today with students gathering on our Reconciliation mat to trace and cut out their handprints in the colours of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. Our Year 8 students eagerly took part in the event, which will run every day this week. The paper hands will be laminated and placed around our Bunjil the Eagle sculpture outside the College Chapel. In the staff room, a beautiful display of native flowers was the backdrop for generous pots ready to brew lemon myrtle tea. Lemon myrtle has been used by Indigenous Australians for 40,000 years in their traditional cooking and medicines. #naidocweek #naidocweek2020 #naidocweekactivities #naidocweekactivities2020

03.01.2022 The College held its annual Remembrance Day service at the Lone Pine site with a small group of 2021 student leaders and staff. We observed a minute's silence to remember the soldiers who died fighting to protect our nation. Our homerooms commemorated the event in their classrooms with prayers and reflections and wreaths were placed at the Melton and Bacchus Marsh cenotaphs by our staff. November 11 is universally associated with the remembrance of those who died in World War 1. The conflict mobilised more than 70 million people and left up to 13 million dead, one third of these with no grave. Lest we forget. #remembranceday #remembranceday2020 #lestweforget
