23.01.2022 These trees have occupied a part of the creek belonging to the property on the other side of the creek. They housed a lot of native wildlife. Today the property owner had them removed. Why? It wasnt on their house side. Theyre not building anything on it. Disappointing.
23.01.2022 Luke Doyle is one of the candidates running for the Parkside Ward position recently vacated by the retiring Cr. Mike Hudson. Luke is the only candidate who has reached out to Jane Russo Councillor, City of Unley, and I. We have both been impressed with Luke's passion for the City of Unley and in particular Parkside Ward. He has a grasp of the many issues facing our community and we believe will work hard to achieve positive outcomes. 16.01.2022 Consultation is now open for community feedback on the draft Tree Strategy up until the 11 May 2020. The Draft Tree Strategy proposes a long-term vision for Council and the community to keep Unley leafy for future generations. It considers current and emerging issues, opportunities and trends in our community relating to trees. In addition to managing and maintaining our existing trees, there is a focus on expanding and establishing new trees across the city. We are seeking comments to ascertain support for the proposed key directions and to provide our community with an opportunity to make improvements for consideration in Councils adoption of a Final Tree Strategy. ://yoursay.unley.sa.gov.au/tree-strategy-consultation
15.01.2022 I highly recommend this. I was fortunate enough to do the face to face tour. It changed my whole attitude and practice to waste so much so that I drive friends and family nuts (but in a positive way) and have implemented waste minimisation strategies and practices at my place of work.

14.01.2022 I, like many other Unley residents, believe we can be doing more to combat climate change. I have always believed that one needs to act locally for things to ch...ange globally and therefore local government is the right place for environmental and climate action to take place. On Monday 14 September at 6.30pm (second item), I will be chairing our Elected Member workshop briefing on declaring a climate change emergency. Over the last year or so, many Councils have declared a Climate Emergency. There is no dispute that our climate is changing, and there is evidence to show that actions can be taken to mitigate and/or adapt to climate change. Council has a range of environmental initiatives and strategies in place as a means of responding to climate related issues, however, a number of residents have requested that Unley Council declare a Climate Emergency. This workshop is intended to provide information to assist Members to consider matters such as: 1. What declaring a Climate Emergency means. 2. What position other Councils in SA have taken. 3. The City of Unleys activities in relation to managing Climate Change. This workshop is open to the public.

11.01.2022 Unley green cover - 3% Increase over last 4 years and "Best on Ground" for urban, compact, low rainfall category in a national study! The 2020 Benchmark of Green Cover in our Cities & Suburbs Report launched yesterday reveals Unley has turned a corner and had a 3% increase in green cover (includes shrubs and trees). The results are calculated from an i-tree study that uses 1000 sample points per Council area, providing a direct comparison between 2016 and 2020. While i-tree... does not extend to the level of accuracy of the more recently introduced LiDAR, it is still a very promising indication that our efforts are making a difference. It is also a great demonstration of the work the City of Unley has been doing where we are recognised in the report as best on ground for the positive change compared to the other Councils in Category 5 (urban/compact/low rainfall). The link to the full report is here https://www.greenerspacesbetterplaces.com.au//where-will-/ The images are of the two main pages that highlight Unley in the report.
