23.01.2022 Waxing a bowl on a lathe....
23.01.2022 I've been putting my lathe through its paces. This is a dip and crackers bowl. It could also hold two dry treats, sweet or savoury. I've filled some cracks in the pith with a two part resin that's tinted blue. I'll take off the excess tomorrow.

23.01.2022 In this business two of us do a happy dance when we get an order! 2020 has meant a 90% drop in orders, and of course no markets nor exhibitions. So the few orders we have received are even more appreciated

16.01.2022 This is definitely the case for Stephanie. Now that she has a bigger workshop, with more tools, she has more ideas, learning new skills constantly. Since qualifying with a high distinction in her visual arts honours degree she has continued training, always more to learn!

12.01.2022 This is the little whale I've been making. It's red cedar with iron oxide stain on the top side with a carved moth and eyes. To recreate the barnacles on the nose and chin I've glued on chips of chalcidney crystal. The stand is small branch of black coral as is the base.
12.01.2022 This is what Stephanie has been up to
12.01.2022 I started this rhino about 9 months ago. It's Huon pine and a bit tricky to carve. I stopped because I wanted to do a better job than I thought I was capable of at the time. Now I've started again I'm feeling more confident.
11.01.2022 I'm working at getting windmill going again. The sails will be somewhat smaller.
11.01.2022 Our new mail box. Number 11 is alive.
11.01.2022 This is a lovely little box in hardwood. I've painted the inside with a pearl paint. It really does look like a pearl. And the edges is a pearl paint that's grey. When the painting is done I'll sand the outside and seal it with raw linseed oil and a wax made from linseed oil and pure bees wax.
