16.01.2022 I Wish You Enough... I recently overheard a mother and daughter in their last moments together at the airport, as the daughters departure had been announced. Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the mother said: "I love you, and I wish you enough!" The daughter replied: "Mum, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough too, Mum!"... They kissed and the daughter left, while the mother walked over to stand by the window near where I sat. As she was standing there, I could see that she needed and wanted to cry. I tried not to intrude on her privacy, but she welcomed me in by asking: "Did you ever say goodbye to someone, knowing it would be forever?" "Yes, I have," I said, "But, forgive me for asking, why is this a forever goodbye?" "I am old and she lives so far away. I have some challenges ahead, and the reality is that her next trip back will be for my funeral" she said. "When you were saying goodbye, I heard you say I wish you enough, may I ask what that means?" I asked the elderly mother. She began to smile and answered: "Thats a saying that has been handed down from generation to generation in our family. My parents used to say it to everyone!" She paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and then she smiled even more: "When we said I wish you enough, we were wanting the other person to have just enough of the good things to sustain them." Then turning towards me she shared the following, reciting it from memory: "I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright, I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun more, I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive, I wish you enough pain that the smallest joys in life appear much bigger, I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting, I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess, I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final goodbye!" She then began to cry and walked away. They say it takes a minute to find someone worthwhile, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, and an entire lifetime to forget them. 13.01.2022 Why Wont Tomorrow Ever Come? Today is the Tomorrow that you were so worried about Yesterday, and nothing has changed! All the awful things you were worried about that might happen Tomorrow, have still not happened fortunately!... And, all those things that you said you would get around to doing Tomorrow, still remain undone unfortunately! Never put off until tomorrow, that which you can do today! One of the most important pieces of advice that I was given when I was younger, and trying to burn the candle at both ends, is to remember that Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a mystery, just focus on Today because that is your present!" The longer you spend procrastinating about starting to work towards your goals, the less chance you have that anything will happen. Find something that will fire up your excitement, and that will give you the impetus to get started. 1. Dream Big Open your mind to all the amazing possibilities that are available to you from the Universe. Try to remember the things that you wanted to have, do, and become when you were younger and more hopeful. Spend some time dreaming again. Imagine the things that you can do when you apply yourself. Focus on setting goals to put a deadline on your dreams, so you can work towards achieving them. 2. Touch Lives Wherever you are, be there! REALLY listen to the things that are being said to you. Be genuinely interested in the people with which you are sharing time. Listen carefully to what they are saying. Take time out of your busy schedule to speak with the ones that you love. Focus intently on the thoughts and words of those that choose to spend time with you. Otherwise, if you show no interest, they will find someone else to spend time with. 3. Make A Difference Donate some of your spare time, or even some of your spare cash, to help make the lives better for those less fortunate than yourself. Find a Not-For-Profit that is close to where you live and put in some time there to help them out. There is always room for someone to spend some time with them. Not only will it improve their circumstances, it will definitely make you feel better about yourself. What are your stumbling blocks? When they confront us, the challenges we face in life can seem overwhelming at the time. It is important to remember that you are never alone in facing these tough times. There is always someone who will stand by you and help you over the rough spots. Dont try to keep things bottled up to yourself when you are hurting. Reach out to the people who REALLY care about you and ask for their assistance. You will be surprised how much easier the tough times in life are to get through, when you have someone else standing beside you holding your hand. Stay in touch with the people you care about, and who care about you, because communication and sharing are the glue that keeps relationships together. Spend some time to break into your busy, hectic lifestyle and deliberately make the effort to chat with your family and friends today. Its never too late to tell someone how much you care and ask them if they need somebody to chat with right now. You never know, you just might save a life, and it could be yours!
