25.01.2022 Such a powerful moment for us here at CREATE as Home Stretch becomes available permanently for all young people in Victoria. We are so proud of the young people who advocated for this change to create a better system for those to follow. It’s time for this to become the standard nation-wide! #MakeIt21 https://twitter.com/LukeDonnellan/status/1362594858846679046

23.01.2022 Children and young people in care often face unfair stigma or are labelled as "bad" children - despite being in care due to no fault of their own. With support, stability and opportunity, children and young people in care can reach their full potential. Help us to #snapthatstigma... Learn more: www.create.org.au/resources/snap-that-stigma

22.01.2022 As 2020 comes to an end, we wanted to reflect on the year that was. 2020 has undoubtedly been a year of great challenge and change for so many. We have been continually inspired by the resilience and strength of the children and young people we connect with each day, and we are so proud of what we have achieved together over the course of 2020. We will continue to advocate change for children and young people in care, and cannot wait to see what we can achieve working together in 2021!

15.01.2022 Introducing Adina! Adina is one of the two new Young Consultant representatives to join CREATE's Influencing Committee, to help us change the system! We asked Adina a little about herself, and here's what she had to say: "I was in kinship care for 7 years and am now a lawyer and social worker. I live at the beach with my partner and our 2 fur babies and live for coffee. I have been working with the CREATE Foundation since completing my Speak Up Training in 2012. ... [If I could change one thing in the system], I would change the instability of the current system so that children and young people would be given more of an opportunity to heal and thrive." You'll be hearing more from Adina and Emily, our two new Influencing Committee members in the coming months! Keep an eye out! https://create.org.au/meet-your-new-influencing-committee-/

14.01.2022 Today is National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day a day to celebrate Australia’s First Nations children as well as learn about the crucial impact that culture, family and community play in the life of every Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander child. At CREATE we support the #familymatters campaign, and as part of this believe in the importance of raising children in culture, community and family. One of our Young Consultants recently sat down with Is...aiah Dawe, founder and CEO of ID. Know Yourself. Isaiah and his team are doing amazing things in this space - supporting Aboriginal children with care experiences in reconnecting with their cultural identities. 09.01.2022 #GetToKnowCREATE Today we hear from another member of our Leadership Committee Linda! Hi, my name is Linda I am one of two Development and Operations Managers located in Queensland. I am responsible for supporting the NSW, ACT, VIC and TAS offices and for sourcing funding so that the voices of children and young people continue to be at the front and centre of any practice, policy or legislative reforms. I love coming to work every day and hearing great stories about how... children and young people are getting involved with CREATE. Something interesting about me is that I have two children, a partner and three cats. My family loves to go camping and I love mountain bike riding. Do you want to get in touch with CREATE? Send us a message or give us a call on 1800 655 105 www.create.org.au

04.01.2022 With the West Australian election looming, CREATE supports the recent election commitment by Labor to provide care options to extend placements in foster care and provide housing guarantees, coaching and mentoring to young people beyond 18 years to 21. It is crucial that these extensions of support include all groups of young people leaving care, including those young people leaving residential care and young people living with disabilities. This is such an important issue ...Australia-wide, and with the upcoming election in WA we have a real opportunity to create change for young people in care. We are calling on all political parties to make similar commitments to improve the life outcomes of young care leavers! #MakeIt21 Read our position paper: http://ow.ly/KBMr50DPvSy
