23.01.2022 Brushing If youre like most people, theres not a whole of brushing going on. In fact, only 50% of Australians brush twice a day. The reality is that a quick, occasional dash along your teeth with a hope and a prayer is not going to cut it. As your dentist will tell you, you need to brush for at least two minutes twice a day, taking care to use a soft-bristled toothbrush (theyre less damaging to your teeth and gums than their harder counterparts) to clean your teeth sys...tematically along all surfaces, always brushing in small, circular motions. Flossing Flossing (or using an interdental brush) once a day is important because it removes plaque from between your teeth which goes a long way in helping to prevent gum disease, tooth decay and halitosis ("bad breath"). Its not something that should be rushed either. Take your time, using a gentle side-to-side motion with about 45cm wound around your middle fingers and thumb. If youre not sure about the right technique, have a chat to your dentist who can show you all the right flossing moves.

22.01.2022 Its not an optional extra. This new video from the ADA clearly explains why flossing should be a key part of everyones dental care. #dentalhealthweek #watchyourmouth

22.01.2022 #SendYourSmile It’s never been more important to look after your teeth as it is right now. With the current worldwide health crisis, routine visits to your dentist are currently being deferred, so it is imperative that you maintain your oral hygiene at home. For a healthy mouth, remember to: - Brush morning and night for at least two minutes... - Floss regularly - Minimise sugary foods and drinks - Make water your usual drink Help us share this important message with friends and family by printing out fun smiles and share your smile with us with #ShareYourSmile! 22.01.2022 COVID-19 Virus (Corona Virus) Your concerns We would like to let you know about our strategies for the Corona Virus. Like you, we take this problem seriously. Thankfully, our previous level of infection control was higher than required, and we now aim higher again to continue to do more than what is asked of us to keep you and ourselves, safe.... Safety The safety of our community and our team is our priority. We have practiced optimal infection control for years. All patients would have seen us, in the past, use face masks and gowns to protect you and us. The NSW and Federal Departments of Health are providing us with up to date information and we are kept current with reports from WHO, the Australian Dental Association, and the Australian Society of Orthodontists. Our response In response to the COVID-19 we aim to eliminate risks to us all, we want you and our team to be safe. . We ask you to wash your hands when you enter the building. . We ask you to not bring other people to appointments other than the patient and parent/ guardian or carer. . We will ask if you have been overseas or are at risk of having Corona Virus. . We may ask for all people to be identified. . We have removed magazines from the waiting room. . All staff have their temperatures taken twice daily, and we may request this of patients if they appear unwell. . We continue to wear our gowns and wear masks more. . We have always tried to run on time, we will try to do this better so as to minimize the number of people in the waiting room. . We clean all chairs in the building, all surfaces and handles frequently. Changes to treatment There will be just a few changes to treatment as a result. We will look to eliminate aerosol sprays, this can mean we could restrict a few procedures but our commitment to excellence will be maintained. Lockdown If the Department of Health requires full closure we will comply as requested and seek to make arrangements to make certain we can care for you when we reopen. Looking after each other Now it is even more important than usual to take care of each other. https://www.creatinggreatsmiles.com.au/ For more information on Corona Virus visit: https://www.health.gov.au/

18.01.2022 You might think that a little extra sugar here and there isn’t such a big deal, but the odds are that you are taking in far more than you realise. Figures show that the average Australian is consuming 14 teaspoons of sugar A DAY!!! This is a whole lot more than the maximum six teaspoons a day recommended by the World Health Organisation. Increase in sugar consumption is having a profoundly negative effect on Australia’s dental health as revealed by Australia’s Oral Health T...racker (ada.org.au/oralhealthtracker). This year’s Dental Health Week is all about showing you what daily consumption level looks like in relation to the food you eat, how to read a food label so you can see what’s really in your food, and how sugar can negatively affect your dental health. We want to show how easy it is to keep your teeth and gums healthy by following a few simple tips!

17.01.2022 Sure we all want that Hollywood smile, but for orthodontists there are other factors at play.
