23.01.2022 Covid-19 lockdown has been a hard road to travel. Tears, anxiety, frustration and a whole lot of stress. Business has been tough. But we’re hanging in there. I’d be lying though if I didn’t say I have struggled. Creations to me is not just a business. It’s not work. It’s who I am. It’s what I do. When that was ripped from underneath me without even a chance to think twice I felt like I’d been hit by a train. What now!?? I scrambled my way through what I was going ...to do and how I was going to ‘get with the times’ and become a tech wiz and be covid adaptable. Not to mention how we were going to survive and pay the rent. All while my heart hurt and I was angry! This is not what I do this is not how I do it. The passion and the motivation was being sucked out of me. I really struggled to find my worth. Throw remote learning and all the rest in there the journey hasn’t been fun or easy. Not to mention not a single government grant has been applicable to my business due to its set up We have battled closure now for 7 months and with the way things are it will almost be 9 months before being able to get back in studio. But these are the things we have overcome. All of us. Each and everyone has had the rug pulled from under them and their world flipped on its head. What we knew this time last year is completely different these days and if we learn one things from all of this is we don’t take anything for granted! I’ve missed you all and although Zoom fatigue is a real thing. Seeing the smiling happy faces excited to see me on the other end is a massive lift and a huge motivator to keep pushing on. It’s been more than 7 months since I last wore these!! 23.01.2022 TERM 4 CLASSES unfortunately sundays announcements did not give us any clearer picture as to when or if we will be back face time face this year. Regardless of this we will still be offering a small timetable of classes on Zoom. Most of our classes that ran Term 3 on zoom will... Continue. Our bookings will work in 4 week blocks First block being October 5th - October 31st Second block being November 2nd - November 28th If at any point restrictions are eased. These times and classes will reopen in the studio using the same timetable with a possible addition of more fun and social classes to get kids back into dance before the new year. This is certainly not how I had planned to run a studio at all. But to those who have stuck by us and supported during these very hard months of closure. Thank you! 20.01.2022 These times have been so hard for so many and as some normality comes back to our world the restrictions and limitations are still so very rigid and it’s really putting extra strain on dance studios and similar style children’s recreational business’s. Although this highlights the limitations in SA. We in Victoria will follow the same limitations from June 22nd when businesses like our are allowed to open. The oversight of schools not having to adhere social distancing whil...st at school and that they are permitted to teach group dance classes within their gyms and classrooms. However a purpose built studio with all care and precautions thought about, set in place and completely planned out is unfair to our small businesses and quite frankly not possible to sustain on a financial level. I worry about the future of our studio and many others if we cannot return to regular business with safety measures in place. We are a non contact sport, we can adhere to social distancing within studio, we have cut our partner work and use of shared props ect. We can adhere to it all. However we are forbidden to do so with regular class numbers at this point. I can’t wait to get back into studio with all our wonderful students but it’s becoming clearer and clearer to me how much of an impact this entire pandemic and restriction rules is going to have long term on my business including its concert later this year. I had to share as my head and heart are feeling just a little deflated.

18.01.2022 After 235 days we are finally allowed back in the studio to dance!!! I was overcome with emotion when these were handed to me as I arrived. A complete surprise from mum and dad. 17.01.2022 Introducing our newest ‘Superstar’ Teacher to the Creations Family. Jess Poulter will be taking over our Senior School jazz and lyrical classes and I’m so incredibly excited to see what she and our students achieve together after such a tumultuous year of uncertainty ... **Jessica began her dance journey at age four with Peninsula Ballet School. She did Calisthenics for 13 years and competed in the Victorian Calisthenics State Team four years in a row, winning consecutively. Jessica received the Dance Domain award and Excellence awards at Sandringham College for her outstanding results in VET and VCE dance in 2010. Jessica graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (English and Creative Writing) at Murdoch University, Diploma of Journalism at Macleay College, a Diploma of Business (Entrepreneurship) at Australian Institute of Business and a Certificate IV in Dance Teaching & Management at Transit Dance. She was a columnist in the Australian Dance Review and worked as a blogger for the Victorian Dance Festival. Jessica launched a blog Dance Writer for the Arts industry. She has a team of qualified reviewers and ambassadors and has raised more than $10,000 in funds for charities Very Special Kids, beyondblue and The National Breast Cancer Foundation as part of the annual Dance Writer Charity Gala. In 2019, she launched Dance Writer Company, an elite performance extension program for young dancers. This company has performed at VDF Showcase 2019, Masters of Choreography, Dance Aid, Jump Dance Challenge and provides in-house showcases twice a year. Welcome to Creations Jess!!!

05.01.2022 Introducing our 2nd school holiday workshop! This one is a beauty! Join The brilliant Luke Alleva as he brings his talents to the Mornington Peninsula. ... Luke is one of the most sought after dancers and choreographers of the stage and screen and we welcome him to Creations School of Dance for our summer holiday workshop on Monday Jan 18th Luke will be teaching a variety of dance styles over a 2.5 to 3 hr period. Students will learn 2 routines to show case parents at the end of the sessions. Styles may include -Broadway Jazz, Lyrical, Tap and Jazz. 03.01.2022 16 weeks ago was our last week of classes, 16 weeks missing all my studets running into my studio with smiles and hugs, or troubles and stress and being able to let go of all of that and release through the love of dance and music in their safe space with friends to smile and laugh with. Through that time we have struggled to find a new normal, we have toyed with YouTube and online classes, we have worked with some brilliant teachers including ones from overseas and we have... welcomed interstate and international students into our online classes as if they were in our very own studio. I was so so so excited to be able to re open our doors on Monday. To be able to welcome so many missed faces back into studio and re connect with all of you and share stories of tough times in iso and bring back the joy. unfortunately now with these new restrictions announced we are unable to do that . I’m in a whirlwind of emotions from pure sadness, to frustration and anger. But mostly devastation. Sadly we will not be opening our doors for term 3 like we had hoped and at this point I am unable to say when we will be able to re open our doors again. One thing that won’t be beaten through all of this is my passion and joy to share myself, my skills and my love for dance with children of all ages. I will continue to do what I love in whatever way I can. I feel for my students and my teachers, I feel for every small business owner in this hard time and I feel for my family who have to watch this all break me down.
